My wife and I are going to watch him swear in and say our good by's. He has been working out almost every day at the gym and has lost over 30lbs. We are going to miss him yet at the same time we are proud of his choice to serve his country.

hehe. mine is getting ready to graduate on the 4th. his first week was dreadful. it takes them about a week or so to get over the shock/homesickness. i have the san antonio weather on my desktop, and that was the hardest thing to look at these past six weeks. he's so accustomed to it now, he thought it was 75 degrees on friday!

send plenty of letters.

i'm looking forward to going to SA this week to see the graduation, and to visit with my son before he takes off to tech school. it's a bummer he has to be back at the base by 7:30 though. on the 4th!

What kind of orders did your son get? Is he going overseas after tech school or staying in the US?

I finally heard from my son today. All he could say is, "do you have a pen and paper?" Let me give you my address here in BMT. He gave me the address and than he had to end the call. He sounded pretty calm though, like he is handling it well. With Zero week behind him, the real fun started this past Monday, week 1. How many times did you hear from your son during BMT?

it all depends on what squadron your son is in and what TI's he has. When I went through our squadron was known for being relaxed on calls home and patio breaks, other squadron were a lot more strict.

They wont get their orders for their permanent duty station until the end of their training pipeleine. Some people have to go through several different tech schools before they become qualified in their job.

Thanks again for all the good info folks.

My son is finishing up week 2 and we got a call from him last night. He sounded really goood. He told me he had just passed his inspection (for what I don't know)and that he is doing well overall. He also told me that he caught on quickly when they field stripped thier M-16 and had enough time leftover that he was able to help out a coulple of his fellow trainees. His flight was doing a folding party when his TI pulled him aside and let him make two calls home so he contacted his gf and than he called the wife and I. I was really happy to hear from him and that he was doing an outstanding job.

From A proud AF parent,

Frank
