I served the Marine Corps for 3 years and was medically discharged with a disability for colitis. I am in the process of getting my nursing degree and once i get my bachelors degree in nursing, I want to join the US Airforce; however, in my dd214 my re-enlistment code is 3p stating i am disqualified for officer training. Is there anyway to waive this and get in the department? (I'm really crossing my fingers at this moment and hopefully there is). Thanks

You will have to petition the Board of Military Corrections
You will need to prove that the military made an error in issuing the discharge It's a lengthy uphill battle with the answer being no in many cases, but it can be done. -----If your military service record requires a change or correction, you will need to submit DD Form 149, Application for Correction of Military Records to the relevant service branch. -----If you need to change your discharge status you will generally need to submit DD Form 293, Application for the Review of Discharge or Dismissal from the Armed Forces of the United States to the relevant service branch. SEMPER FI The Gunny PROUD TO BE AN INFIDEL America is not at war. The Marines are at war, America is at the mall. |

I believe you can make it even with that profile because they are hard up for nurses and do anything to get them. On top, docs and nurses are promoted much faster than us ground pounders which, I honestly admit, has always irked me when I was active. I thought it was unjustified.
