Im going into the AF as enlisted in a few months. Right now im trying to choose my AFSC. Is there a AFSC that will give me an edge on becoming a pilot later on?
Im looking into Flight Engineer, but from what I have read this job is quickly diminishing and being taken over by computers.
Also Airborne Battle Management is a field im looking into.

Again, is there a a AFSC that will give me a better edge then those two? And if not which of the two has the greatest benifit?

Dawg, all, I repeat, ALL pilots in the USAF are commissioned Officers through ROTC, MA or OCS with College degrees (at least BA/BS from a reputable U/Coll.). Because the USAF has a class system, they are in 1st Class. They are the glory boys. After a long gap come all others. With your background you can not become a pilot, period. If you try with an AFSC(no matter which one), it doesn't do much good because 1. you might be too old 2. you haven't ROTCed or Degreed and 3. You might no longer be physically qualified after all those years. So, stay realistic and go Army or Marine. That is my sober advice.

your sober advice my ass, cuz its Bologna.Im am fully aware i cant fly without being an officer. What do u know about my "background" i mentioned nothing of it?And you still didnt answer my question. Anyone feels they can answer my question, plz do.

I apologize if this comes across the wrong way to people, but i dont take people tellin me what i can and cant do, specially when they reply with something with no relation to my posted question.

Im currently 19 and after a 3-4 year stint, i doubt ill be too old and out of shape. And im positive ill have my degree by then, 1 1/2 yrs of college under my belt currently

SO i repeat which out of the mentioned jobs should i do to get a solid background, or is there another one i should look into?

Hey dawg, you can believe what you want, I don't give a hootin' holler. I stick to my words, you will not make it unless you go the way I said. I repeat, there is no AFSC that can help you become a pilot (this, again, answers your question). It is simple and logical: Pilots in the USAF are selected fresh out of College/MA. By that time they already have all their physical stuff and some flight training behind them. There are more applicants than pilot slots. The USAF will not wait for your butt to get ready after x years. Even if you take civilian flight training and become the national stunt champion, it doesn't help because the USAF does its own training.

Aight lemme make sure i understand what your saying.

Your saying that if i was to choose Flight Engineer (which works pretty closely with the pilots and copilots while flying) and get a good understanding of all the planes mechanics, machines, devices, etc.. and come out of the AF at about the age of 23-24. (That btw is the same age i would graduate college.) And assuming i took night classes or whatever i have to do to become an officer. I would not be able to reenter and try to become a pilot?

And just to clarify, i know there is no job that will put in the pilot position quicker or easier, but i know there has to be one that will give me a better understanding of what is goin on. So that when i do go through training im not completey stupid.
