Here is an article about the Air Force, and a jet that provides some close air support. Read it, or don't. But I am curious to what some of you current, or xgrunts think about CAS. . . has it helped you in the past, or screwed you over?? Thanks.

Afghanistan- by January 2002, AF Combat Controllers controlled over 90 percent of all terminal guidance control for precision-guided munitions; called in more than 630 close air support sorties, dropping over forty-four hundred bombs. They even called in CAS while at full gallop on horseback to prevent General Abdul Rashid Dostum's "Tiger 02" task force from being overrun by Taliban fighters, and then controlled three-fourths of all CAS missions supporting another warlord, General Muhammad Fahim Khan of the Easter Alliance as his forces pushed the Taliban from Gardez to Kabul. Combat Controllers later controlled more than seventy thousand pounds of bombs dropped in a 48 hour period during a fierce battle at Tora Bora.
Hands down... CAS is a God send for those on the ground. Afghanistan was won by some very effective and well trained SOF personel on the ground using terminal guidance and CAS to kill thousands of al-Qaeda. G ----------- Misery Loves Company |

Cobras with TOWs! Did some major damage and protected our asses in Mogadishu. Scared the crap out of the Somalis, sometimes all they had to do was overfly our pos to get them to abandon any bad thoughts.
