I called up SSI and they said there is no way for the military to see whether or not I've been on SSI...is this true? (The representative did say however that welfare records do show up.) Also, I was a dependent with TriCare...do my medical records at military facilities automatically become part of my military record when I commission (officer, not enlisted) or do they need me to submit my medical records personally?

Hmmm, lets put it this way, there are various systems that they check to see what type of insurance one has, SSI, TriCare and such. If your in there, the data will surface at some point.
Your military medical record starts on your first induction into the military and follow you through your career. And no, dependent military medical records are not merged into your records. Unless you think there is something in there that needs to follow you, why bother?
