Hey everyone! I'm new on this and initially joined to seek information from anyone who has/had the same job as I was just assigned. I'm in DEP right now and leave the beginning of Nov. and would really enjoy finding out more about my position before I go off to Basic. If anybody has ANYHTING they would like to shareabout this positon, I'd really appreciate it! Things I'm especially interested in knowing are as follows:
1. Is Tech school entirely at Keesler, or do you still finish off at Tyndall as well? Someone told me you no longer go to Fl.
2. Personal opinions on the job itself (likes/dislikes)
3. Daily duties, etc.
4. Will I be working in planes, on the ground, or both?
5. What AFB is most favorable for this position? (overseas and not)
6. What kind of traveling have you done with this job?
7. If I wanted to cross-train in the future, what position would this one smoothly transition over to? (Maybe ground radar?, which is what I was originally signed up for)

Hey, that was a quick response! I like this site! Yeah, that site is the only thing I had read about my job, but it still lacks a lot of the answers I'm looking for. I'm pretty educated on the job description/duties and the bases that I may be sent to, I guess I'm just looking for anyone with personal experience who may be willing to share some more personal opinions on it. I appreicate your help Gunny!

Yea gunny is right, as I recall from my USAF days it is a posh job. We ran around in fatigues and they wore their Blues. But what gunny didn't mention is that you can be stationed for extended periods in places where the foxes say 'good night' to the rabbits. Like northern Alaska or Wake Island way out in the Pacific. Remember, the needs of the service come first. And all that good USAF dining facility food is going to make you fat. But to everything good in life there is another.....

I had a lay over on Wake Island. I was glad that I was going to Vietnam instead of staying there.
