Hey guys, watsup?
My name is Dave and i want to enlist in the USAF to become a fighter pilot, but first I need to know if I,m too tall to fly any one of these jets: F-16, F-18, F-15, B-2, AV-8B, F-22. I am currently 6' 3'' and growing. Please help me thank you |

Well, first off, the Chair Force doesn't operate F/A-18s or AV-8Bs.
Ok, on to your height question. As long as you don't exceed 6'5" and your sitting height is between 33-40 inches you should be ok (this is for all branches of the military btw). Also, you can't enlist into the air force and expect to get a job being a pilot. First you need to complete a 4 year college degree, then you need to take the Air Force Officer Qualifying Tests. Once you do all this, then they will talk to you. Also, they say that flying experience isn't required, but I can almost guarentee that without any, you're going to be at the bottom of the pile when its selection time, unless of course you're the President's or a Congressman's son Have you looked into Naval Aviation? More pilot slots per year than the Air Force and if you don't get picked up for pilot, you will probably get picked up for Naval Flight Officer. Just food for thought. |

Come to the Air Force its better than being on a row boat all the time. A pilots license would help you out at getting a pilots slot in the Air Force. Like Sammy said you don't need one but having one just puts you up that much higher in the selection process.

Can you talk without moving your hands? If so, then you'll be disqualified.
Sounds to me that if you are already 6'3" and still growing, you'll exceed the maximum height in no time. What is the average height of your family members? To give yourself an idea about how tall you are gonna be....just look to your family. Got any uncles who have to duck coming through the front door? Well, when the AF isn't hurting for pilots, getting a waiver will be next to impossible. If you meet the requirements though, it doesn't hurt to try, you never know what could happen. The next world war could start and pilot recruitment might skyrocket.

I've seen many tall people who fly in the AF.
I don't think it matters because the canopy is probably taller than you think and if your head hits the canopy then you are definitly abnormally tall. |

we simply swap out the canopies to allow for the additional headroom for tall pilots.
