Has anybody seen the new Air Force BDU's. If not they can be found on the Air Force website. They are still in the testing phase. Tell me what you think. I like the pattern, but the colors I'm not crazy about.

I have seen the BDU's. I too like the pattern, but aren't crazy about the colors either. The colors they have now are much better than previously. The previous colors were WAY to flashy and bright, IMO. I like the grayish color now, compared to the bright blue before, but still seem a little flashly.

I wonder if the new digitized pattern has anything to do with the U.S. Military marketing/recruiting to the videogame generation?

I don't think it does. The Marine digitized, and the new Army digitized are actually the best camo patterns for combat, b/c they have no defined pattern, shape, or structure. They melt, rather than "blend" with the surroundings, in my opinion. The Army was actually smart, and didn't put black in their new digitized camo, b/c black in not a natural color. If the Air Force were smart I think they should go with digitized as well, rather than tiger stripish. I think all services should be standardized. Plus, I don't really think the AF will use this actual pattern in the field. I think it is just for around bases.

TOW, at first, I thought the was part of the reason the AF was doing it, for a recruiting tool. I don't know what to think now, it wouldn't make sense for them to have used it as a recruiting tool right now as they are overmanned!!
The new digitized cammies look great IMO, I too think the AF should go with the digitized instead of tiger stripe. You can't really tell close up that much of a difference with the new BDU's, but I hear from a farther distance it's a noticeably bigger difference. A witty saying proves nothing - Voltaire |

Go to http://www.af.mil its in there. CCT and SERE did the wear test on them. They are better than the current bdu's. They are wash and wear too. The color takes some getting used to but its not anywhere near as bad as the original BLUE/GREY uniforms they were going to use. Those things were hideous.

The new ABUs will be released next year. They're supposed to make the AF stick out abit more and actually give us a decent uniform or so they think [they're confortable and promote laziness :P ] what fun will basic training be if you dno't have to shine boots?
: is he still moving? Shoot him again. Make sure you hit the head : |
