its illegal cuz its select-fire (semi-auto,burst ,fullatuo) remember the assault weapons ban? well its an assault weapon
you might be in luck if there is a civilian model produced (semi-auto only) but until then just AR's m1a's and Sl8's for assault rifle style guns (and ak 47 but imo dont waste your moeny on one) "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf" (goerge orwell) |

1. I think it's a stupid idea to try and buy one as it can't do anything for civillians that other legal guns can. And no they are not legal.
2. As a rifle I think it is one of the best in the world, a reliable erganomic design by arguably the best military in the world, the Israelis. Acually there is a Civilian version of the TAR-21 (Simi-Auto Only)...but it isn't imported into the USA. There is a site in Canada taking orders for $3,000 a pop (Ouch!)

I would burn every dollar i had before i would give one cent to HK
They have had a long standing policy of only selling handguns to the American market and the only reason they are looking to "grace us with the "privilege" of the 416 is solely because the military doesnt want anything to do with it. Combine that with their crappy customer support not only to civilians but departments too... No thanks they can keep their overpriced over hyped garbage |

Good point, but for some reason I cant help but be drawn in, at least until I see the price tag, even if they were avalible it is unlikely I would spend 3K just for a stock HK91, I did buy a PTR-91 and they are great, put in a claw mount and a nice scope for less than 2K. If you dont want a 416 look into a LWRC or the colt 1020 im guessing colt is going to drop the ball on the 1020 at the february shot show so I will likely go with the LWRC gas piston rifle. I wish there were a way to convert my PTR-91 to gas piston, cleaning guns is such a pain in the ass.
