Alright, I had my share of information from the internet, the History Channel, the Discovery Channel, magazines, etc. What new small arms do any of you know about coming up for America’s military? The Objective Force Warrior has some strange weaponry to go with the new armor.

Its a concept and will very likely remain so. Too expensive to make, much less make enough of them in sizes that soldiers could actually wear. Did you read 4th generation war?

We have a hard enough time convincing locals that our troops are not using optical equipment to see through their womens clothing, can you imagine what they would think of our soldiers in that getup?

what's the point of a vulcan shot gun?

hey i understand making advancements and all, but honestly weapons like the M16, M14, REMINGTON 700(if still in use, i don't no) have all been great till now, why switch to pos weapons like that crappy, plastic M8, when the old ones are fine. Besides most of these new pos weapons look like toys, honestly, next well be sendin out GI Joes to fight.

There are two guns called the SCAR-L and SCAR-H, that intend on replacing the M4 in special forces. H and L meaning "Heavy-7.76 ammo" and "Light-5.56 ammo".

And the XM8 (Miller that should answer your question) will never get past the prototype/testing stage. Hence the "X".

As for your basic rifleman M16... I'm not sure what will replace that. They should just go plead for H&K to give the whole army G36s for something under a billion dollars.

FN Herstale is producing SOF SCAR in only prototype models. They will not be function until Phase/Increment 3. Additionally, these weapon systems are "For SOF by SOF." They replace much much more than the M4. They replace the Mk11, the M14, the Mk12, and the CQBR. It a ergonomic variant system, modifiable, modular, and adaptable. Might be a nice system, but that doesn't solve the issues now.
