I definitly say the M16 with a grenade launcher (I call it just the (M16) is a lot better but doesn't have an aimer.

I heard the m4 was the shorter version of the m16 there for making the m4 better for close combat urban battle. Does shorter make more powerful?

No it doesn't. Same bullets as the M-16. Just makes it easier to swing it around in close quarters. (no bumping into walls in a passageway)

It's basically the exact same weapon, but shorter. Same bullet = same muzzle velocity
M4 is best suited for close quarters urban combat, where as the M-16 is just yer basic issue weapon. Each weapon is very capable of a headshot at 500 meters or better. SEMPER FI The Gunny PROUD TO BE AN INFIDEL America is not at war. The Marines are at war, America is at the mall. |

Ya mean this?
http://www.enemyforces.com/firearms/aug.htm It's not an M-4 or M-16. If you hamper the war effort of one side, you automatically help out that of the other. In practice, "he that is not with me is against me. " The quickest way of ending a war is to lose it. George Orwell |

M-14 anyday. Just hate to hump it, swim with it, sleep with it, but can't be beat for accuracy and knockdown power.

I still think for knock down power the M-14 was and is the best rifle I have ever used.

I'll take the M-14. I've used one for the shooting team because of the weight and accuracy. The M-16 is to light for my shooting comps but hey thats what we get issued now. Unless you get the GUU-5P or the M-4

They took too much barrel off the rifle for the M4 for my tastes. It really eats into the range and stopping power of the rifle, so I tend to stick with the M16 if I had too but I can see why they wanted something shorter for the humvee. Its just not particularly good in wide open spaces, where its nice to have the M14 that you can get in alot of places in Iraq, even if its just one or two people in a squad.

the M-4 accuracy range is shorter but the stopping power is the same as the M-16A2. Same bullet and everything.
