I was watching Futureweapons and they were reviewing the IAR, an open bolt version of the M4 Carbine. It runs so cool that after firing a full mag of rounds Mack was able to touch the bolt with no problems whatsoever. What do u guys think about it?

Don't like it, I prefer the M-14/A1

Have never liked open bolt weapons. Think you'll find that most of us in here favor the tried and true weapons we trained and fought with. Remember, it ain't the number of rounds sent downrange, its the one well aimed round that hits the target.

I saw a demo of the IAR on the Military Chanell last week it seams that so many people are trying to use colateral damage as an excuse to spend and test small Cal. weapons instead of raising the Cal.up to what the experienced user knows will remove the threat.

The IAR is the next incarnation of the M4. The M4 had two huge problems:it ran very hot and it always kept a bullet in the bolt at all times therefore a round could cook off at any time.

lancer most of my feelings come from the fact a 5.6 isn't and never will be a one shot kill weapon a M-14 with a 7.62 is a one shot kill weapon the American Gunmakers have been trying to make 223 ammo into killer ammo even in the Hunters world and never succeded.

That's true. I was always thinking that there should be an American version of the AK-47 but the 5.56 is a better more accurate round.

You are right the 5.56 is more accurate but the M-4 is also a Carbine and the M-14 is a Battle Rifle and 7.62 was not only accurate but it has the knock down power.

That's true again. Well I don't use guns anyway in combat. I just press the big red button.

Recoil is more satisfying....

I guess the recoil of the old M-14 told you the problem was resolved.

I have used guns before at a range at Fort Bragg. You get a nice MP5 in the cockpit of ur Lancer in case u get shot down. It doesn't have much recoil though.

The only thing I would tell you lancer is that I love the fact that I can stand off and still put you down with one round of 7.62 better than the 3 to 5 rounds of 5.56 mm and I ain't got to get that close to you to take you out, ever hear the saying reach out and touch someone?

The love of a good weapon is a beautiful thing! It brings a tear to the eye (or is that just CS).
