Right now someone I know is in bootcamp, they left 8/12/2009.
What will most likely happen after bootcamp and A school? He does not want to go out with the Marines into combat. Instead, he would like to work in a Naval Hospital in the United States.. is that possible? He signed up to do this for 4 years, but when do the 4 years actually start...? When he started bootcamp? I'm not really sure.. Also after the 4 years will he be able to return to civilian life with us and start a family? Any help would be great! Thank you. |

love_dove why isn't he telling you this in the first place.I have never heard of a Marine Medic that never wanted to be I would say go to Military Web-sites and search don't listen to people that has no idea what they are talking about.I have been out of the Navy for 30 + yrs. but a lot of things change.

Lovedove, I don't know much about the Navy other than that they are very patriotic, ride around on yachts and love eating fish lol. I was in the Army, but I assume that in the US Military the parameters for employment are the same all over. The truth is that the needs of the service come first before superficial individual desires (such as: preference, assignment etc.) But I know for a fact that no one will force your friend into training for a job that he declines or is disinclined for. But if push comes to shove he may well be ordered to go out with Marines to provide medical services if no one else, better qualified , is available. That is all part of the military. If one refuses he could have been shot years ago. I don't know what the law is now. I assume, they send him to the rear and discharge him out of the Service.

Lovedove... What the Mastertanker says is true about the True Patroit part about the Yachts you can call it what you want but a Carrier is the only Ship that rides like a Yacht the rest of them you just simply hang on and ride.Your Boyfriend will most likely go to (A) school then if he wants to will go to Base Hosp.he could possibly go to a Medical Unit in Iraq he is going in the Military not the Boy Scouts if you expect any other answer you came to the wrong Web site all you can do is support him.

I'ma have to second this... Why does he himself not know, and then tell you? I belive if I am on target these questions can be answered by his recruiter. |
