After finishing boot camp, they'll send me to technical school, then after finishing the school i'm worried about not getting a job immedietly and i would have to rent an apartment or something for a few months, does this happen?

Thanks

Top_Gun once you finish Boot you don't have to worry about a place to sleep I am not sure what the Recruiter told you but I can tell you what your CO will say (You are in the Navy Now)and your butt is mine. A young E-2 will not have it as easy as you sound. In the first place when you go to school you are probly going to live on Base and eat on the Base. You might have to clean a Head or two also. After school you might not need an apartment you might go straight to a ship .I remember you are going to ABE School and believe me you will have your hands full you better find you a buddy fast someone who has been on a Big Ass Bird Farm or you will probly miss chow about half the time and wonder around lost the rest of the time.I know something about this stuff my first Ship was a Big Gun Cruiser the USS Helena she was called the Queen of the Fleet the first week onboard I missed chow at least once a day I spent most of my time getting my butt being chewed out for saluteing a CPO and the rest of the time getting my butt chewed out for not saluteing all the Brass.

Top_Gun after you get out of school you will probly go to a Carrier that is the rate you went to school for.You will probly start working in the Dept.where they need your Rate and they will train you to do your job and qualify you.Your advancement in your rate is based on your ability to do that job.You also have a certain time between rates or in order to be recomended for the next rate up.You are evalueated Quartly on everything including your ability to do your job ,Military performance ,your ability to get along with your shipmates, follwings orders this is all very important to them. Then you have to consider doing your job 24 hrs a day.7 days a week.By the way the US Navy does not have a MOS you will have a job code number when you come out of school and you will be that all the time in service unless you change your rate.
