Hi folks,
I'm a civilian sub-contractor for NPS in Monterey and I'm doing some research on continuous learning environments. I'm looking to ask a few active-duty Navy officers between the ranks of O-1 and O-5 some questions about learning. Specifically, here's the scenario: A Navy officer attends college and let's say gets an MBA. But she immediately gets assigned as a flight control officer for 4 years and doesn't use much from her business education. After her 4 years, she is transferred to a new duty station as a procurement officer and suddenly has to use all the finance she learned in her MBA...but she's rusty. The question we have is, how does she get up to speed quickly? I'm asking this question because we're looking into building an environment where people can get up to speed quickly without having to spend hours and hours reading texts or watching powerpoints. If you're an active duty Navy officer, please post your answers here or email me at chris at kinection.com Thanks in advance for your kind assistance. Good question. Hope you get some good responses considering what you are attempting to do. Short of standing in front of her, make the sign of the cross in front of her while mutterring 'domini, domini, domini' you are now a full fledged procurement officer and smack her in the forehead. Rust gets removed with work. Ain't no quick fix.
