A new updated web sight calling for donations for preservation of USS Iowa. Perhaps a new ray of hope to preserve the Flagship of the Class.
"HELP SAVE USS IOWA" Save the USS Iowa - http://www.savetheiowa.com/ Sponsors: Former President George H.W. Bush has agreed to serve as the Honorary Chairman of our efforts to save the USS Iowa. Author Tom Clancy has agreed to serve as Honorary Campaign Chair. The strength to persist...The courage to endure. |

Agreed Sir, I am fully aware of USS New Jerseys status as Americas most decorated battleship. 19 battlestars and ribbons altogether.
USS Iowa did not become a casuality until 1989 Turret two, gun two (killing 47 crew). She did however capture the coveted gunnery crown before her accident/retirement. I would not like to see such a ship go silently into that good night without a dam good fight to keep her and I believe there are many others that would agree. They are one of a kind ships. The strength to persist...The courage to endure. |
