A new updated web sight calling for donations for preservation of USS Iowa. Perhaps a new ray of hope to preserve the Flagship of the Class.

Dreadnought...even thought I think it would be nice to preserve the Iowa I do not call her the Flagship of the Battleship class she has the distiton of Namesake But the USS New Jersey holds more Campaigns and the USS Misouri has the prestage the USS Iowa has been a crippled ship for over 40 years.

Agreed Sir, I am fully aware of USS New Jerseys status as Americas most decorated battleship. 19 battlestars and ribbons altogether.

USS Iowa did not become a casuality until 1989 Turret two, gun two (killing 47 crew). She did however capture the coveted gunnery crown before her accident/retirement. I would not like to see such a ship go silently into that good night without a dam good fight to keep her and I believe there are many others that would agree. They are one of a kind ships.
