You'all hear about this guy--Commander Kirk Lippold--getting passed up for promotion because of the bombing while he was CO of the USS Cole?
Presently, he is at a Desk at the Pentagon, and is goin on a nut because he was passed over...saying more or less that he was a scapegoat. IMO, he was told NOT to show weapons etc being this was Clintons SOP as CC. and if they did have weapons, I would guess they had no bullets in them... The fact that it was a garbage scowl that blew up, places a little gray area into the equation... I saw it on Military .com not un-usual I bet they have changed their policy though the Navy has always had lousy protection from small Craft.By the way you said you were a Gator.
