I'm currently about to ship out with an AECF contract, but my goal is to get into either SEAL or EOD. I'm wondering how hard it is to switch rates after AECF training. Should I be trying my hardest to get the EOD or SEAL contract before I ship?

legomepanda just curious if you want to go SEAL or EOD why did you go for AECF if you ever go to school for AECF the Navy will not waste their school because AECF is a normal bonus program and cost a lot of money.

It sounded like a good idea when talking to the job counselor. And I'm interested in electronics. I know that I'd have to fill a comittment as AECF, but will I ever be able to switch?

legomepanda I guess you know that when you come out of Boot Camp you will probley go directly to AECF A school and after that you will either go to a Shore Duty Station or into the Fleet where you will be ask to do a job with others and qualify for advancement in Rate.I will say this SEALS & EOD has always excepted the very best of all Rates so I doubt if you met the QUALLS they would turn you down.Also might recomend you go over to Military.com become a free member and go to US Navy forum and ask around you will find more information than anyone can give in here.
