Hello everyone, I'm Jorge, I ship out in about 2 weeks on the 14th of July, ill be an HM.

I was hoping that someone could answer some of my questions about FMF training.
Ok, my understanding so far is....I go to boot camp, go to HM A-School. After that, what happens? Can i go directly to FMF or do i have some other training before i can do that.
And what exactly goes on in FMF training? how long is it? would i have to go through Marine bootcamp as well?

Any questions answered would be greatly appreciated.

No, you don't have to go through Marine boot camp--

Basic principles and techniques of patient care and first aid procedures Group and modular instruction After completion of "A" school, hospital corpsmen are normally assigned to Navy medical treatment facilities although some are assigned to operational units. Advanced training in a "C" school, a tour at sea or ashore, overseas or with the Marine Corps may follow this initial tour. Women are assigned to most ships and field medical support units of the FMF. Women are not assigned to submarines, with the SEALs, or some units of the FMF. En route to their first permanent duty stations, most male HMs will be assigned to either Field Medical Service School, Camp Lejeune NC, or Camp Pendleton CA, for specialized training in the knowledge and skills required to perform medical services in the field with the Marine Corps and/or the "Seabees." During a 20-year career in the Navy, HMs spend about 40 percent of their time assigned to fleet or FMF units and 60 percent to other types of duty.

No you dont have to go through Marine bootcamp, but FMF training is to get you familiar with the "Green Side". Youll learn the history of the Marine Corps, protocol on the battlefield, and battle field emergency response tactics. Training is challenging, and you can expect it to be somewhat like "boot". You will get yelled at, you will run five miles a day, and you will with a more realistic battle field environment. It rocks!!! Have fun, dont get side tracked and youll do fine

I am doing the same thing i leave in november and i was wondering after a school how long is fmf training before you are able to be deployed?
