Stick I saw your profile in the RVAH NAVY website when I first got to Whidbey Island I was in the Auto Hobby Shop then I was moved to the Commisary Store under the Mess hall and stayed in the barraks on the backside of messhall my date is corrected to 64-65.My wife was Canadian when she came up from Pearl Harbor we moved into Navy housing outside NAS.by the way my watering hole when the wife let me out was Oak Harbor Tavern .Stick I am not sure but I think that a BM1 buddy of mine that worked with me in Commisary Store at one time was MAA up in Mess hall and Berthing topside his name was Tomjack BM1 and he was one salty Boatsnmate. All PO's from store stood watch in berthing we didn't have any non-rated in Store. You are right about the rain it was raining the day I got there and it was raining the day I left.

Meyeaaah...I got alongfine with the guys w/the green stripes..
Only problem I ever encountered with ANYBODY was when we were on the MED CRUISE w/USS FORRESTAL 64'-65'GM 1st was MAA sent ME back 2 times "YOU NEED A HAIRCUT" 2nd time I went to barber he noticed I had GREEN E 3 stripes...He told me that that particular GM had a "thing for "AIRDALES"..so I go back to my compartment...change to Dress Blue jumper w/E 3 WHITE stripes...He didn't even say anything... Back in those days.....I was still being devloped....
I have explained everything above correctly, it’s your interpretation which is incorrect. I am above reproach, your obviously not, or I wouldn’t be talking to you. |

On the FORRESTAL 64'-65'MED CRUISE we had 1 MARINE Squadron..IIRC they were flyin A4Ds...
They were referred to as "JARDALES"...We had FLEET MARINES too..some were assigned to the BRIG..I'm pretty sure there was one posted outside the SKIPPERS door also... We pulled into MALTA...MAA announced "SWIMCALL"me being a 1st timer onna cruise asked abuddy"swimcall?"..He said "yep they'll loweran elevator..n we can dive or jump ooff that..there is a ladder also for climbing back up"...SO...grab someshorts..a towel..head up towardsthe elevator..as I'm walking across the hanger deck..I see 3 MARINES w/rifles...asked my buddy what they were doing...he said they would be on tha lookout for SHARKS!!! I'm just curious, what is the Navy's policy on enlisting with asthma?

Well when I went to St.Louis for the PHYSICAL I know some guys were told they did not pass the physical...They were sent back home...exactly which branch they were in I couldn't tell you ..they gave physicals for all 4 branches..you weren't designated MARINE NAVY AIR FORCE or ARMY until you passed the physical..
Some didn't even make it past the vision....height...weight(too fat..too skinny) One guy was told he had "spots on his lungs"no make physical... I would assume chronic asthma would be a definate minus I GOT FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES..WHERE THE WHIISKEY DROWNS n THE BEER CHASES THE BLUE AWAY |
