Salior85-all rates are needed guess it depends on what you like to do and accomplish.Both of those Rates have always been wide open.Always has been a lot of Shore Billetts for PN &YN.

Salior85 -if you are single it would not matter if the Navy had a re-alingment might make it better I have a feeling if you are single it would give you more over-seas duty I am not sure I would want to go to Bagdad but it all comes with the territory.Might have to learn to pack a Rifle.

MM1(SW) here. the (SW) plays a little fun as I work on a sub base at the moment. Only 5 of us in the shop. Surrounded by tubers. Made first last May and I almost lost it that same day. Darn MMCM shouldn't wake me to tell me I advanced. Was up for 2 days, and I just wanted 3 hours of sleep. I got one. MMCM was seconds away from a broken nose.

INFORMATIONS SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN 2ND CLASS PETTY OFFICER (SW/AW) here. Hopefully IT1 come this winter. I'm active and will continue to serve until they tell me I have to leave. Until then I'm staying haze gray and underway.

I was a STG(SW)Sonar Technician, Surface working on the AN?SQS-35 IVDS. Served on the Knox Class FF's, specifically the Francis Hammond FF-1067 and the Vreeland FF-1068.

Welcome Onboard guys kinda need someone to talk to once in awhile.The Coachman up above is an Ok Dogface just about everybody has been here almost from the first of the forum.About a even mix except Navy.I already got aquanited with Nukemech I think I have saw some of PO Nguyen's post over at Military.com.(fishtec) I don't know much about the Knox Class FF but I worked on or helped build about 10 long and short hull Perry class I worked off and on at Todd Shipyard San Pedro CA.Shipyard for about 7 yrs. as a Pipefitter and Machinist Supervisor.If I remember right the Hammond was built in Todd Shipyard I was not out of the Navy yet but I was on Shore Duty in Long Beach CA.I was attached to Inactships we were putting most of the 2250's and Mod. Fletcher Class out of Commission I remeber these low slung DE looking ships being built they looked more like the APD's built in the 40's.

Yeah, the Hammond was built at Todd between 7/67 and 5/68. she was decommed on 7/92 and last I heard she was scrapped.
