I'm graduating highschool this June and I'm 18 years of age. I was thinking an AW. I'm pretty smart, but my physical fitness can use some work though.
I was originally thinking about getting my degree first and joining as an officer, but I'd like the respect of an Enlisted officer. I'm not sure which way to go. My recruiter says jobs are filling up everyday so an enlisted route might be best because officer spots are too competitive. Any advice?Personal experiences? -Olivia |

Best advice you'll see coming out of this board, is pretty straight forward:
GET THE DEGREE FIRST! The NAVY will still be there when you are done. SEMPER FI The Gunny PROUD TO BE AN INFIDEL America is not at war. The Marines are at war, America is at the mall. |

should I try for NROTC? How hard is it to be an officer? Let alone aircrew? Is there another ROTC program for the navy other than the scholarship?

Olivia... we only have one Active duty Officer on this forum his name is BJ but he is at the present deployed somewhere he is a Bubblehead or Sub-Salior. You have to have a College education to go to Annapolis which is the Naval Academy.Navy air crew is made up of many different Rates in the Navy and are Enlisted personal they have Warrant Officers who come up through the ranks and that takes time.I would talk to a Recruiter if you are sure about joining.I would never try to discourage anyone if they wanted to join the Military but you have plenty of time if you have the opportunity to go to College do so and prepare yourself for a future then join the Military.

Son finish your education first and then decide if you still want to join the military, your degree must come first then if you change your mind you have that to fall back on.
