I don't know if other people are looking at this and are in DEP and might have the same questions
but I just have stupid small things to ask from time to time that I wonder. I suppose for starters do the Giant Carriers have internet access... and are they really as large as a city/what do you do on your days off on the ship or are you always doing something important when your not sleeping. sorry for the barrage of questions also since I think I'm within "aviation" because I'm an AS where will I probably be stationed after A school HOOYAH |

Travis AS is Aircraft support and maintance could go to a Carrier but they use AS on Naval Air Station also.About the size a Nimitz Class Carrier is over 1000 ft long and 134 ft wide so imagine for yourself. You need to talk to a Airdale incase you are wondering what a Airdale is that is what I would call you I was a Blackshoe that means I worked below the Flight deck.

As you move though to get your rating, you will gain all the answers to your questions. Aircraft carriers while they may look huge, and indeed they are, living aboard them is another thing altogether. You will be amazed at how small they actually are or seem to be after a few weeks at sea. They are a floating airport and self contained city complete with internet access, phones, and even ATM's.
Oh yeah, there are two types of sailors, black shoes and brown shoes. Black shoes own the ship and everything it takes to make it function, brown shoes own the aircraft ONLY. This next question is more about boot camp itself... I'm never one to get worried about much, but I was talking to someone who made it to the last PT test and missed his running by 9 seconds, he also said that a bunch of others were off by 5 or 10 seconds, and because of this they were all released
granted I don't know how much time I'll have but this has been pickin at the back of my mind I think I'll be able to do the running seeing I can do the pushups and situps without trying at all... but I just wanted one of you guys to confirm that if I miss the final pt running time by a couple seconds I'll be sent home. |

Sorry for another question back to back, but is the chance of getting fractures high in boot camp? I've been reading around and saw someone finished it with a messed up ankle, and a few other places said if I practice to hard before I even get there I'll be denied for breaking a leg or so...
because basically I've been running with a condom suit ( garbage bag shirt (wore it under my real shirt) up hills and pushing myself. I was reading around and saw this rppearso guys posts everywhere... he's a pretty negative person who apparently couldn't even stay in the gaurd for less then a year. as for me I need this pretty bad, I don't give a damn about college money, or college for that matter, I don't care if I'm spit on and treated like dirt or keep the same E1 rank forever... all I care about is living the life of a sailor... I don't know why... I mean none of my family is military and they all curse me for joining. but I just feel like I finally am headed in the right direction, even after bein kicked out of highschool for fighting and everything else and that you guys could give me pointers to get in the best running shape possible so that I don't risk losing the only thing I've got left hell I ran in the rain, snow, blizzards and on top of Icy roads just to get in enough shape to join and with two months left I think I'm starting to get worried that this piece of crap body of mine won't be able to run fast enough |
