I recently read an article about a Seaman who reached Chief in 5 yrs and 5 months.

Do they have the same kind of promotion rate if you work hard as an Officer?

We have many Sailors and Marines and Soldiers that make rank rapidly so its not unheard of for one to reach E-7 in this timeframe.

One end result in when one makes rank like this thier time in service works against them for future promotion. In short, this Sailor will be a Chief for a long, long time.

As for Officers? The same rule applies.

These CPO's will normly not stick around in the Enlisted ranks but convert to a Warrant program or LDO program.Certain rates in the USN are very wide open and it is easy for some to pass others that is why it is best to get your College before you go .Mulder to answer your question I am not sure but it is not unusal to see young Four Stripers in the JAG Corp and other Flag or Admin Ranks of the USN.

Thanks for the info. If I did join the Navy, it would likely be the JAG Corps.
