PowerliftingBBer-Best go see a Recruiter and he will help you get into the program you want as far as a Ship it will depend on some your choice and some the USN needs time deployed that will depend on the deployment place US Navy has a lot of ground station US & overseas.

Alot of whether you end up on a ship or not depends on what rating you choose. If you do end up on a ship, deployments usually start out at 6 months but are often extended. My first westpac was supposed to be 6 months and ended up being an 8 month deployment. When you do return from deployment, most ships will stand down for at least a month before going out for small periods of time on local ops. Local ops can last anywhere from a week to a month. You still have to stand duty while in your homeport. Most ships have 3 or 4 duty sections which means you would be spending the night on the ship every three or four days. Don't worry though, you will get used to the routine.
