Now now, my boat can't go under ice. But at least I'm in Sasebo right now, where it's decently warm. Thanks for the thoughts though

Fond memories of Sasabo. Got myself kicked off the base there one night! Got tanked up and borrowed a Shore Patrol truck and relocated the Admiral's anchor. That was some night!

Me also that was before I got married as a matter a fact Sasebo was where I first met my future Father-in law he was on a British light Cruiser the HMS Belfast.I was on Overseas Shore Duty I was attached to Mine Division 111 we had 20 small Minesweep boats which were Gas Turbine Powered.

I guess the only place we can moor. The US side of the harbor by the FISC/fuel area.

Bjd ..guess it was not a very good question I have not been there since 1960.We lived on one side of the Bay and our Office & Boats were on the other we had to ride a PaPa boat to work.We had Japanese Security on both sides. Both Main Gates were manned by USMC and a Japanese counterpart.

Sounds about right. US base is around the northern edge. We'd have to go through the Japanese base and the merchant construction shipyard to get to the far west pier where the supply depots are. We don't need little boats anymore. They built a road that loops around the harbor and we get shuttled now.
