Here is my situation, i am schedualed to ship to boot camp this month but due to certain circumstances if at all posssible i need to delay that. I went in to talk to my recruiters today and needless to say they weren't happy, they presented me with either the option of shipping on my expected date or being discharged. If i choose the later i was told i will not be alowed to enlist again at that recruiting station (not a real problem as there is another a few hours away). I've also been told that the navy might not alow me back regaurdless of where i try to enlist, this is because of the bad economy and high enlist rates. I have every intention to join the navy and plan to reinlist as soon as i am able should i take the discharge.

The problem is that i have a diver contract, a contract which required me to get a waiver for color vision. My recruiters have told me both that Diver is completely full for the next couple years as well as the fact that there is no way i will recive another waiver.

my question is are these points true, will i be allowed to reinlist in the navy at all? What about diver? And is it true that theres no way i can get a waiver?

ted151515..I am not sure what the circumstances you are referring to but I think what you have is a Recruiter going out of his way to get waivers so you could get a program that you want then you decide that you want to wait.

You signed and they went out on a limb for you, report on time.

Report or don't. The recruiters have done thier part and gone the extra mile for you.

I doubt seriously that simply changing recruiting offices will work for you. You can of course try, but they will run your home address and discover the district your address falls under and refer you back to them and or contact them and get the skinny on you.

Either show up for what you signed for or make other career plans that don't involve military service.

As to the reason i wish to leave at a later time all i can say is i would be persented with a career opertunity in the navy that i would not have avalible if i shipped on my current date.

The Gunny; I found out that if i were to attempt to reinlist in the navy i would need a waiver. My current recruiter's policy is that if someone has discharged from his dep then he will not reinlist them. I completely understand that and respect his desision, that is the reason i would be going to a diffrent office.

Ted

Good luck in what you are trying to do. I stand by my comments concerning crossing districts to get what you want.

You never mentioned which branch of service you signed up for. I have to assume its the NAVY as thats where you posted this query. Not sure what career opportunity you are referring to if it didn't come from your existing recruiter and signed contract?

The one thing I would like you to consider, you signed the contract right? Now you've changed your mind. This isn't a gym membership.

Ted....I guess the reason my reply was blunt was the fact you mentioned Diver not many uses for Diver quals unless they are Elite . I find it very hard to find many opportunity's that would be more important than a ship out date and school opportunity for an Elite Billet

By the way I wish the best .
