Another WW2 sub was found last year also, its the Wahoo, very probably one of the most famous subs of WW2. The Russians found it and sent the pictures of serial numbers they found to the US Navy for confirmation.
The Naval Historical Center in Washington, DC has a lot of information on both. |

Lobesterman-Were you a Bubblehead just wondering with the screen name I am pretty young myself USN 9/1/56- 6/1/72 got tired and quit. Served on just about every type of Duty started out on the Queen of the Fleet USS Helena( CA 75) did some time in Service Craft ,put 3 years in Minesweep duty Mine Div 111 Sasebo Japan put 3.5 in Vietnam in Brown Water Navy and 1 year on Coastal Patrol some more Surface Duty my last duty was a Gator USS Sumter(LST 1181)got to heck out never looked back.

Nope Sully,
I was a radioman stationed on a carrier, navcomsta Balboa and a destroyer. Got out in 67. I was a lobsterman growing up and I didn't want to use my screen name from other places here so thats where the lobsterman came from. |

thegunny (as far as the reason I got out) as far as the experence and friendship a lot of times.When I retired in 2001 in Ca. I didn't have many friends other than Co-workers that was not Active Duty or retired .As today most of my friends are retired Military.
