I was thinking about our govermental structure today and I got to the senate. It gives 2 seats to all states no matter what the population is. This gives states with many many fewer people the same power as states with much larger population. One argument I hear for this is that the small states will be pushed around if it just went by population. This method of thinking gives arbitrary geographic boundries more rights than people. That seems to me like it goes against the spirit of our government for the people, of the people, and by the people (or whatever the order was). My beef with the electoral college is basically the same, it also completely ignores millions of voters, red voters in california and blue voters in texas. I was wondering what other people think of this very much seemingly non-sensical methodolgy.
