In 2001 John McCain led an assault on Hollywood about R-rated movies. In 2005 he has a cameo appearance in the funny but somewhat raunchy R-rated movie the Wedding Crashers. I don't mind that McCain is in the movie, but the guy is inconsistent, and not only on this subject. And he wants to be president?

I can't help but remember the old skit from Saturday Night Live,when Bill Bradley,GW,and John McCain were running in 2000.
The skit takes place in New Hampshire,the candidates are eating breakfast and the camera focuses on McCain seated alone,wearing a dinner napkin as a blindfold,reliving his time in the Hanoi Hilton.The actors poke fun at him and McCain snarls"I was a prisoner of war",to which GW replies"Oh,you were a veteran,gee whiz,I hadn't heard".Biting satire but funny as hell.
I used to back McCain for President but no longer feel he is the man he was twenty years ago in terms of truth and honesty.

I agree with you that the man may not be exactly what we thought, but after many years in politics any name gets tarnished and dirtied. Look at the choices we will have in the next election, or let me put it to you this way...Mccain or Hillary? Seems like an easy choice to me as it stands right now.

I'll revive this thread just to take a swipe at the senior senator from my fair state.

Our other senator, Jon Kyl is actually going to face a well funded opponent with a locally recognizable name. And I can sum up what's wrong with McCain with this little anecdote.

McCain was actually sought out for his opinion on the race and whether or not he was going to back his fellow Republican and long time fellow senator from his same state.
