as for bringing Freedom to Iraq [ or anywhere else ] ..well.. what kind of freedom? Western style freedom where women are equal to men, everyone can worship what and who they like or not, if they so choose, , etc . etc..

Not all societies are into that concept[ and don't dismiss some as unenlightned or backward third world - as that doesn't apply to Saudi Arabia and others ] If Freedom means letting them believe and act on their beliefs in any way they wish, then you got to accept that they may not see American Democracy [ in this instance ] as being a good fit for them..

Not about to debate strategy and tactics on this thread for the West to ' win' in Iraq or Afghanistan [ it will take more than tanks and smart bombs ] and not about to debate the validity of America's ' invasion/liberation' in the first place.. it happened we got to figure out how to finish it with respect to all parties or it will just keep on festering and growing...

Fact is the west is in Afghanistan and Iraq and a few other places and Dubya is grumping about Darfur/Sudan as another place America can ' make better '..

debate should be about what can be done, what should be done and who should be doing the 'done ' and most important, if the people in the screwed up places [ in our opinions ] want us to help them ' get it done '..
