After much being reported by the media regarding global warming and the President’s (as well as many scientists and conservative political thinkers) reluctance to blame the activities of mankind as the culprit, I came across the following which was confirmed as true in snopes.com (See:http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/house.asp). Reading this just underscored the hypocrisy of the Left Wing of America who delight in lecturing and criticizing others but never themselves when it comes to debating national issues. Of course, the reason why this information has not been given proper attention by the news organizations is because it is the Left Wing who control what is reported in most (but not all) of the media outlets. Neither the Left Wing nor the media will report news that is critical of a fellow Left Winger, especially if that Left Winger happens to be one of their icons.

A Tale of Two Houses

House 1

The four-bedroom home was planned so that "every room has a relationship with something in the landscape that's different from the room next door. Each of the rooms feels like a slightly different place."

The resulting single-story house is a paragon of environmental planning.

The passive-solar house is built of honey-colored native limestone and positioned to absorb winter sunlight, warming the interior walkways and walls of the 4,000-square-foot residence. Geothermal heat pumps circulate water through pipes buried 300 feet deep in the ground. These waters pass through a heat exchange system that keeps the home warm in winter and cool in summer.

A 25,000-gallon underground cistern collects rainwater gathered from roof urns; wastewater from sinks, toilets, and showers cascades into underground purifying tanks and is also funneled into the cistern. The water from the cistern is then used to irrigate the landscaping around the four-bedroom home, (which) uses indigenous grasses, shrubs, and flowers to complete the exterior treatment of the home.

In addition to its minimal environmental impact, the look and layout of the house reflect one of the paramount priorities: relaxation. A spacious 10-foot porch wraps completely around the residence and beckons the family outdoors. With few hallways to speak of, family and guests make their way from room to room either directly or by way of the porch.

"The house doesn't hold you in. Where the porch ends there is grass. There is no step-up at all."

This house consumes 25% of the energy of an average American home.

(Source: Cowboys and Indians Magazine, Oct. 2002 and Chicago Tribune April 2001.)

House 2:

This 20-room, 8-bathroom house consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year. The average household in america consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, this house devoured nearly 221,000 kWh, more than 20 times the national average. Last August alone, the house burned through 22,619 kWh, guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of this energy consumption, the average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.

Also, natural gas bills for this house and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.

In total, this house had nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for 2006.

(Source: just about anywhere in the news last month online and on talk radio, but barely on TV.)

House 1 belongs to George and Laura Bush, and is in Crawford, Texas.

House 2 belongs to Al and Tipper Gore, and is in Nashville, Tennessee.

This has been discussed. It also leaves out information about Gore's house, though, I doubt you would care because it might go contrary to your beliefs that the left is more evil than the right.

The reason why I made this post was not to remind readers of facts they already knew regarding the hypocrisy in Gore lecturing us about global warming while at the same time living in a mansion that consumes enough energy to meet the needs of a small neighborhood or a factory. I made this post because I found the comparison between the two homes rather interesting -- especially the mainstream media's failure to make this comparison known to the public and for failing to take Gore to task when he criticizes the President about his insensitivity to global warming.

Gore says (in a self-serving fashion) that he should not be regarded as a hypocrite and a fraud for lecturing Americans to cut back on their energy demands in the name of global warming while at the same time doing the exact opposite when it comes to his personal comfort and that of his family. He shamelessly tries to excuse his piggish energy usage for his mansion by contending that he is able to use "energy credits' which he obtained by paying someone else to use less energy so that he and his family, in turn, can remain comfy in their air conditioned mansion during the hot, sultry summers that is a characteristic of the South's climate. We all know how important the home of a former vice-president is as compared to the home of s sitting president who lives in a state known for its hot summers.

Of course, the Left Wing is fully comfortable with this lame excuse since Gore is one of their own. Characteristically, the Left Wingers takes delight in preaching to others on matters that they themselves are not expected to follow. Left Wingers are famous for lecturing the world about values and life styles that should be followed by everyone else except themselves. Yes, I know there are exceptions. Some Left Wingers actually do practice what they preach and I respect them for doing that even if I should disagree with what they are doing. But those kinds of Left Wingers are few and far between given the incessant, loud noise and whining that one hears from that side of the aisle.

Let's face it, the man is a complete and utter fraud and a hypocrite for God's sake. His lecturing us about the perils of excessive energy consumption has all the legitimacy of a "former" heroin addict who lectures a bunch of addicts to stop taking heroin -- while at the same time living in a house where heroin is available in copious quantities to him and his family and friends. There is no difference between Gore and this 'former' heroin addict who seeks to placate his critics by claiming that he and his family have the right to overdose on heroin since he purchased "heroin credits" from other drug users who have agreed to use less heroin so that the so called former addict may continue to enjoy the pleasures of his heroin high. Essentially all Americans -- even the Left Wing of America -- would regard the "former" heroin addict as a fraud and a hypocrite. But, it is the Left Wing who would fail to see any comparison between the hypocrisy and fraud of this former drug addict and a guy like Gore.

This is because Left Wingers are utterly incapable of recognizing any state of facts that varies with their ideologically based views of reality. To them, Gore is a saint and is to be treated as such despite his two-faced personality. He has every right to criticize the President and millions of Americans who are to blame for global warming because they refuse to take simple measures to reduce their demand for energy while he cools his mansion and flies in private jets.

So, HarryP, you got it all wrong when you say that I would not be interested in knowing about how Gore tries to reconcile his energy use regarding his mansion with his public views and statements about the need for Americans to conserve energy. I am interested in knowing about this. I (and millions like me) regard his explanation of how he reconciles his personal life style with his public statements to be unscrupulous and bankrupt. Having said that, I do not regard the Left Wing as evil as your say in your reply.

While I am at this, perhaps you will explain to me and others who are reading this why another Left Wing icon is not also of the same fraudulent ilk like Gore and why the Left Wing and the mainstream media has failed to take this man to task. I refer to Robert Kennedy. Two years ago, this sham of a person heavily criticized a community in California for its opposition to off-shore wind mills to supply electricity. Shortly thereafter, he learned that the federal government planned to install similar windmills about five miles off the shoreline where the Kennedy compound is located in Hyannis Port, Mass. Upon learning of this, he shamelessly organized opposition to the placement of the windmills claiming that the aesthetics of the sea shore would be destroyed if the government proceeded with its plans. Of course, the Left Wing does not see anything inconsistent with Kennedy taking opposite positions on this matter. After all, Bobby is one of them and it is perfectly OK to lecture everyone else so long as it is understood that whatever is said does not apply to them.

Orange County, CA

Al Gore III, the son of Mr. Inconvenient Truth, was arrested this morning at 2 in the morning for having marijuana, as well as the medications including Xanax, Vicodin and Adderall without a prescription. The reason police found these drugs on him: they stopped him after he was going 100 mph in a blue Prius. This isn't the first time Gore the third has been in trouble with the law for drugs and illegal driving. The Independent reminds us that he was charged with marijuana possession in 2003 after being caught driving without headlights. He plea bargained that one away. The Daily News points out he was charged with reckless driving 94 back in 2000.

Friend of mine who still lives in Orange, CA says that this is a regular occurrence (his son driving the Prius at 100mph). Gets passed by him all the time.

Gotta love it. How heavy was this covered compared to the Bush twins' exploits?

I do like the fact that Gore Junior is riding a gas efficient car albeit at high speeds and high as a kite. Personally, I make no adverse judgment about Junior based upon his arrest record. He will grow out of this phase.

What is striking to me is what you have said in the last sentence. The media, controlled by the Left Wing, will ignore Juniors drug-based life style and focus instead on the President's two daughters. A fair media would give both stories equal coverage. A media that is unfair and controlled by the left Wing will give the daughters' story front page attention, while reporting Junior's brush with the law almost as an after thought and in an obscure article on page 36 of the newspaper.

I trust that the Left Wing will pardon Junior's high rate of speed and the gas guzzling consequences by exclaiming that some of his Dad's "energy credits" was used as recompense.

Global warming caused by humans is a scam and its a diversion from real issues (like the war in iraq and companies building useful infrastructure in china), real issues offend people but global warming is a safe topic. Oh you think the war in iraq is ok and your pissy because I think its a sham and bush suffers from retardation lets talk about global warming.

I can appreciate the skepticism about global warming. As far as I am concerned, it remains unclear if global warming is a natural or man-made occurrence and if and to what extent mankind is ready, willing and able to take measures to avoid the consequences that are being reported by the media and others who have a suspicious agenda.

My problem (and the reason why I started this post in the first place) was simply to make note of the fact that while the scientists are trying to grapple with what they believe is the onset of global warming as well as its causes, we keep getting diverted by people like Gore who have a two-faced hypocritical view of the issue and how to solve it.

As a result of the Left Wing's lack of credibility and their "Blame America First" approach in dealing with world problems, what ever good message they are trying to espouse is getting lost by the kind of clap trap coming out of the mouths of people like Gore and other Left Wingers like him.

Putting aside the noise that comes from the Far Left (and the quiet attitude of the Far Right who have completely ruled out the possibility that global warming either does not exist or is not caused by man's activities), I think it is best to remain open-minded and objective and consider all the facts before concluding with certainty one way or the other that global warming alleged to exist today is of man made origin. And we should certainly not listen to the crap coming out of Gore's mouth as he lectures us about the need for Americans to take measures to reduce global warming while he consumes enough energy for his home to light an entire neighborhood and flies in private jets to boot while giving us bull crap about "energy credits" and ignoring the activities of nations like China and India.

Gore's " Inconvenient Truth " had about as much truth to it as Dennis Quaid in " the Day After Tomorrow " which was about the 'effects' of Global Warming as well..

If you sift through all the scare tactics, the slants and the vested interests and buck-making braggadoccio that surrounds the issue it all boils down to our penchant for rabid consumerism and using up the enviroment irresponsibly.

we won't worry about things until we've drained every lake for water, sucked the wells dry of oil and cleared every forest to make fine dining furniture and custom cabinets for the plasma TV's..

when the crunch comes we'll either be truly living off the land like our Neanderthal ancestors or repeating the process on Mars, Titan and Alpha Centauri..

Any takers as which scenario wins out??

I recommend directing all your questions to this forum:

http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=2c9a8...889066ba2a0e1d&f=106

Although most of the users are not scientists, a few are, and many are educated on the subject.

And by educated I mean they read books, and talked to climatologists/"experts", and studied the information. They did not base their viewpoint on a conservative/independent American blog, or twist the debate into a political tug-of-war. Even the infamous Al Gore has not made it political- he refuses to enter the presidential race- or election for any office- because he has given up on politics. He does this even though he could very well become the next US president if he so desired.

I recommend reading into this. I recommend listening to reputable scientists and researching peer-reviewed studies. Scientists are not political. They could give a shit. Reputable scientists do what they do and say what they say because it is their passion for knowledge and the advancement of civilization which calls them to reveal discoveries to the world. It is not a racial matter, a political matter, nor even based on social class. The consequences are real whether you choose to accept them or not. Things change whether you wish them to or not. Logical fallacies will not save you- a storm looms on the horizon, and it's about to drop a shit-load of reality on your face.

Anyway, I recommend doing some extensive googling.. for that's the easiest way to find information. I also recommend using the "scholar" google, and avoiding all news/political/blog sites. These are black holes of truth and should never be trusted. Grain of salt, always.

If you wanted to debate Mr. Gore's moral integrity, then yes, I would say there is something to discuss as much as there is for any other accusation of hypocrisy for any other idealist. Like I said before, fallacies cannot interpret data or reveal truth. They can only win half-cocked arguments where the opponent is to slow to pick up on them.

P.S.- We have been to the moon Wink

Ok, now how about telling us about the second gunman on the grass knoll and the evils of fluoridation.

Hyperion:

funny you should mention flouridation..

seems that after a generation or two of flouride in the water, kids' teeth all improved and cavities went way down.. then..along comes bottled water all drawn from 'secret springs' and ' pure sources '.. but, without flouride..

so.. what happens?.. dentists are seeing more cavities in kids and the next generation of kidlings are having more fillings, etc. driving up mum and dad's bills.. so far no one is selling/buying flouride impregnated 'bottled water ' along with the various special bits/flavours, etc..

add that to the unnecceassary packaging, plastic bottles discarded and wasted water resources as folks take a few sips and discard bottles still with stuff in them..

funny thing is where I am, Coca Cola has a huge bottled water plant.. they fill their ' Dasan i ' water from the municippal water supply.. tap water and then flog it for $ 2.oo a bottle 'cause they've 'improved' the water by ' re-mineralizing ' or some sh*t [ putting back the impurities the city siphoned off ]

tap water's good enough for Coke, its good enough for me. [ Now if you could only get flouride in beer, then things would be perfekt LOL ]

Ronnec, I'd love to agree w/ you about scientists being non-political, but I can't say that's the case. Scientists, being human beings like the rest of us, and affected by political decisions and affiliations like the rest of us, can and have slanted their research to say what they want it to say. I personally wouldn't trust a scientist on a politically charged issue without talking to the scientist first to get a feel for his or her political stance. That way it's possible to tell if they're really only interested in finding out the truth, or if they have a hidden motive/agenda.

You're right, of course. I should think it would be important to rely on the consensus of scientific organizations and committees, as well as the scientific body as a whole relating to the appropriate fields, for forming an opinion.

Which, I might add, are in almost unanimous agreement as to the existence of global warming. Whether it is artificial or natural is still to be completely determined, but it is not as up in the air as oil corporations and politically-charged pundits would have you believe.

Have none of you guys heard of the climate conference that happened this year when there was a large majority saying that there is a 90% chance of global warming being caused by humans. Even scientists sent from america hand picked by an administration who refuses to believe in human-caused global warming. To say that global warming does not have a human cause is to be ignoring the majority of the scientific community.
