It was a message well sent. If it weren't for the United States Military, There'd be NO United States of America! If you ever get a chance, read a book called On the Wings of Eagles by Ken Follett. On Wings of Eagles This is the real-life story of a Green Beret colonel, who came out of retirement to lead a secret raid, the computer executives, shaped into a crack commando team and the Texas industrialist, who would not abandon two Americans in an Iranian jail. After a hairbreadth escape, there is a desperate race for safety. Today the team is back home living normal lives. But for a while, they lived a legend. This was when Ross was the CEO/Owner of my old company EDS. On Wings of Eagles SEMPER FI The Gunny Dear Lord So far today, God, I've done alright I haven't gossiped I haven't lost my temper I haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or even over-indulgent. I'm really glad about that. But in the next few minutes, God, I'm going to get out of bed, AND from then on, I'm probably going to need a lot of your help. AMEN..... Corporal![]() Registered: 24 November 2012 Posts: 49 | The number of filibuster/cloture votes has been astronomical since Obama took office. There's no way to deny it. McConnell filibuster's his own bill, you need a change. Needing a supermajority to get anything passed is not how Congress is set up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F...United_States_Senate |
General![]() ![]() Registered: 24 January 2005 Posts: 5598 | That's the thing, fillibuster is allowed and is part of due process to get bills passed or not. Makes no difference how many times it is invoked or by who or what party invokes it. That McConnell filibustered his own bill was smply an indicator of how strongly he felt about passing it or keeping it on the floor rather than allow it to fade away as other have. Frankly I don't have issue with it or the process. They did set precedent with filibustering every piece of legislation (cabinet members, heads of departments, judicial nominees, and legislation). The departments will have stronger roles because of the legislature inaction. |

Corporal![]() Registered: 24 November 2012 Posts: 49 | Republicans need to acknowledge that Bush and his policies failed. If they don't, expect the wilderness for another generation with Hillary running in 2016. |
Lieutenant General![]() Registered: 03 October 2007 Posts: 4124 | Are you joking? Name one promise President Obama kept during his first term. As for President Bush, he kept his promise to protect America from more terrorist attacks after 9/11. Please don't bring up Iraq, but if you feel the need I will provide the polls of which 80% of Americans went along with it. Since President Obama took office terrorist attacks have taken place : http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/...sm/story?id=17525656 Situations such as this would have been called what they are if Bush was there and Bush would have had the balls to call it such. |
