Good to see you're getting some sense my friend, Girls Gone Wild: Pennsylvania Ave Edition, now if that doesn't get people more interested in voting, nothing will.

Horse manure. The sites I listed show studies and polls that establish the left wing bias of the media.

There can be not the slightest doubt that if the media of today was covering the US bombing of Hiroshima in 1945, a great amount of emphasis would have been given to the number of "innocent civilians" who were killed at the hands of our military. Pictures of burned bodies would be on the front covers of the NYT and many other newspapers throughout the US. News pundits would discuss the "other" more humane options that the US had and should have used in lieu of using the atomic bomb to secure the surrender of the Japanese government. These same news organizations would go on the hunt to publish the opinions of people from various walks of life regarding the barbarism of the US for using such a horrible weapon against an enemy that was on the verge of surrender anyway. During press conferences, many questions would be asked about how the US could have thought it really necessary to use such a weapon against civilian population centers rather than military targets.

The conclusion is inescapable (except for the left wing who insist on seeing the world with colored lens): you did NOT see this kind of reporting because the journalists of those days were centrists and certainly not left wing in their orientation. There certainly were liberal journalists at that time. they just knew how t o make sure that their personal views did not get in the way of the story being told. Thus, the bombing of Hiroshima was a story about how a war came to an end and how countless numbers of our men in the armed forces did not have to die because the bomb was used. Today and perhaps because we live in a post-Watergate world, the people doing the covering no longer feel constrained to keep their bias out of the picture when it comes to telling the story.

Polls are worthless when biased questions are asked. One site did not indicate the type of bias and, for the most part, none indicated overwhelming bias as you indicate.

People were also different in the 1940s. Some of the very same reporters back then helped to establish television news (the media of which you speak).

I happen to get my news from serveral sources, including print media. Television is not the end all of news reporting.

Let me just say, for the record, that I am not only shi--ing on Mrs. Clinton's face- I'm shi--ing on all American politician's faces right now.

The events that transpired in the last few days will indicate why... It's the only thing that hsa serious pick up and move to France/Sweden/Norway.

*sigh*

See that Freddy Boy is ready to pose beside a 500 pound butter sculpture of a cow at the Iowa State Fair while poised to formally annnounce his run fopr the White House..
Got to love American Politics.. here's a guy who hasn't even entered the race and already he's in second place with 26% support to Guiliani's 30% for the Republican ticket...

Up side is that America gets another actor in the Ronald Reagan mold, downside is Law and Order episodes with Freddy have to get pulled from the air so as not to give him an ' advantage' and ' air time' over his rivals...

does that mean Blockbuster has to pull all his films, too? [ Goodbye Hunt for Red October ]

Can Obama come across as ' polished' [ slick? ] as Freddy.. lots of image to old Freddy as staunch conservative, no nonsense guy [ despite a lacklustre political career as a senator - still longer than O's ], plus he appeals to the good ol' boy brigades - he's 65 and his wife [ his second ] is 25 years younger [ nudge nudge, wink wink.. ]

oh, this is going to be a fun race..Pretty boy Obama or baggage toting Hillary vs. Gravel voice of doom,Freddy and Rudolf [ I saved New York ] Guliani..

At least the sculptor will be able to put this on his resume? How does one become accomplished in the medium of....butter?

Apologize for the extreme thread jack here, it's just that the words "500 pound butter sculpture of a cow" seem to jump right out and make me go "hmmmmm".

Back to topic--

I think Rocketeer said it very succinctly. Obama is still in my "maybe" camp- especially with his proposals on veteran's affairs. Hillary- too much baggage. Read an article lately that Clinton may be rejected by the Dems for...get this-- too much backlash. They think that she is so hated by the right that she may actually cause people to vote against her no matter who else is running. And that she may "get the vote out" for the "other side". She'll cause those who may not have voted otherwise to come to the polls simply to defeat her.

And then there's Ron Paul. Did you intentionally leave out Dr Paul in your post Rocketeer? Don't think he's gonna make it? Well, doesn't look good for him, though he's also one in my "maybe" camp.

well, I haven't really seen too many convincing arguements to deter me from voting for Hillary yet! Too bad when the only choices are dumb, dumber and dumbest!

pataloco:

admit I haven't read much on the esteemed Dr. Paul, however, I was deliberately seeking a ' balance' in my reporting and decided to just comment on the the 2 top runners from each party..

is there a third party option out there or an ' independent ' candidate willing to risk all? what happened to ..whatzizname? Lieberman??

Okay.. did some digging.. don't think much of Ron Paul or his ' competition' from the basement bargain bin, , John Cox.. but, hey.. what aboput so dark horse he's invisible, Duncan Hunter?? - Viet Vet, 14 term California Congressman, 2nd amendment pro, supports wall around Mexico, strong for the military..right stuff??

then theres[ who?] Mike Gravel.

and on the Democratic side.. slightly off the radar [ well, so off the radar even Weatherman would be hard pressed to find him ] there is ol whahisname: Dennis Kucinich [ sounds like a sneeze - still rolls off the tongue a bit more than Hussein Obama or whatever his full name is ]

if I had my druthers and was allowed to scratch a ballot, I guess I'm going for Fred Dalton Thompson with a side order of Duncan Hunter.. now that would be a Pres and Vice combo to consider.

Well!! It's official!!

Law and Order/ Reagan Redux!!

Fred Dalton Thompson has tossed his toupee into the ring and already he's knocked out half the Republican contenders and is giving Rudolf Guiliani a right scare in the tuckus.. What a smooth plan.. announces his offical run on the dsay of a Rep debate, buys time on the debate broadcast to flog his' position' but doesn't appear to defend his thought processes with the also rans..

this guy knows how the media works and what buttons to push.. bet he scares the hormones out of Hillary..she's actually going to have to come up with some clear policies to counter Blood And Guts/ Nuke=em Fred and his neo-conservative roller coaster..
The Holy roller Religious right will be all over Fred's campaign.. watch the bible thumping from pulpits to get the vote out for him..
besides he looks ' presidential' and serious and has a southern accent to die for.. Yup.. the Steam Roller is starting to move [bet he doesn't offer Rudy the Veep job either.. ]
