Since this war began Americans have quickly turned within not actually wanting to face reality about this war. On TV it's mostly WW2 stuff that is used in a strange way to attack our enemies by using the past. Even modern films about terrorism never contain the one faith that created this whole mess, so we shut up and put up with it. This new war has been shoved either within WW2 or Vietnam depending on which side of the bench you are on in this political nutmeg. Maybe some of you don't see it, but you should. I can see why some people feel strange about the whole deal because on the one hand Bush calls Iran a terrorist threat, and then the next week guess who is hanging out at the UN? The fella from Iran wants us off the map and has even said so, yet he drives around America. A friend of mine said that this is the difference between our country and his, we allow jerks to come to our country. I was thinking about the 19 terrorist who got that freedom too a few years back while he ranted. I could see that little quote on all of our gravestones too. So there is tons of freedom in America, unless you name our enemy or their faith.

Sympathize with ya Typhoon. Many people like to make the comparisons to WWII (I don't see it...not one bit)-- especially when the nation doesn't even know it's at war. My mom recently sent me a bunch of my grandfather's things. Old documents, photos etc. The war was prevalent in every single piece of paper throughout that time period and then I got to the empty ration books. RATION BOOKS. Most Americans don't even know what these were and can't imagine a time so desperate that we would resort to this. The 1940's America was at war. This nation is having a minor inconvenience overseas that occasionally pops up in the nightly news. Al Gore should bill THAT as An Inconvenient Truth.

The truth is that military and retired military make up a small proportion, when compared to the population as a whole.
At a time of war (FDR) asked people to put their war efforts together. Now Bush, has asked us to keep spending like there is no tomorrow. FDR's fiscal war policy makes more sense than Bush's. You don't need to be an accountant to know that. Ever heard of Reaganomics? In my opinion, it has been a disaster. Fair Winds and Following Seas |
