Some of the vehicles we used in Vietnam were from the Korean war, so maybe some of you "younger" guys can remember these along with us "old guys."

M35A2, M151A2, M123A1C, M274, M561, M52A2 were listed on my military operators license for about 10 years. I really enjoyed the M274 Mule when we mounted a 106mm recoiless rifle on it. The M561 Gamma Goat was the most fun to drive.

A good few years back.. I almost bought a 'surplus' 1941 right-hand drive Ford 3/4 ton canvasback that a chap had stored under a tarp for many years.. It was rusted out in spots but the guy had spare parts in the original boxes and unopened cans of the original dull milgreen paint still in usable condition...
He wanted $ 2500 for the truck and another $ 2500 for all the parts and paint.. Took a raft of photos and showed them to a good buddy mechanic who said it would have cost another ten grand to bring it back into ' as new' order and meet codes for ' today's use ' [ including add-ons to handle unleaded gas, ] was sorely tempted to write the cheque and play with my toy but cooler heads [ namely the Good Padre saying WTF are you thinking? We got kids' schooling, mortgage..etc., etc., etc.,] brought me back to reality... still have a twinge some days, though, as it would have been awesome!! sure I could have made some cash back renting it out for parties, parades and such... sigh maybe next time... There I was , at the head of the old 68th... |

You see that M934 at the bottom? I know a fella that lives in one. It's a military mystery.
