Since I am now back living in Virginia, I use to be friends with a 11th SGM and I can't remember his name. I do remember he was head of transportation here in Virginia but he may have retired by your time in. We lost touch. This would have back in the late 70s.

If you are ever up in the Chincoteague Is. area I owe ya a beer and I have a pier for fishing.

My God! 12th too! ....and left the 19th and 20th NG. Well had good buddies in the 12th also! I know that the NG were doing a lot of drug interdiction missions down in FL, I just moved from there after almost 12 years. I am sure that had some to do with it.

But talk about political clout, the guys I knew from Virginia in the 11th worked Fed jobs in DC. Hell after a REFORGER they were going back to see the gov of Virginia they had run into him and he said come and see me! I remember the one ODA, I worked with the jr. med was the son of the Sec of the Army at that time and he was a good kid!!!!!

This pisses me off. I used to enjoy talking to her. Now I kind of feel like I've been used. Oh, f.u.c.k it.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, we had a LTC in 11th who was an undersecretary of defense. Swingin' the big axe! Apparently not big enough...

I feel the same way. I can't BELIEVE this happened!! I never talked to her over at mil., but started talking to her here. I felt kinda sorry for her. I didn't know her story, all I saw was everyone taking cracks at her.

rb, let's hope the VA did it's homework. They are usually pretty thorough in these matters. It took me 6 appeals to get to the meager 40% I have. If she is disabled, so be it and good for her. If she isn't, I doubt they woud just arbitrarily give it to her. Of course, it makes me want to pursue further claims on my side.

Who knows, maybe she is just blowing smoke, once again making herself the center of attention ??


TJ, lest you forget the "Bounced check" thread that she started in a plea and effort to acquire some $$$. People started her a paypal account, donated $$$, etc. I felt for her, but in my gut, I felt it was a scam. After all, you float a check or two and get caught, they shut your checking accounts down. "If you're gonna dance to the music, you gotta pay the piper". I've been in dire circumstances while I was USN. Haven't we all, at one time or another?? It's not like we were ever going to get rich or anything. At least not while active duty & being enlisted.

Oh, and HAL, I have to relay this story to you. My first squadron, HC6, I had a young Airman Apprentice Tweet working for me. Good kid, all in all. Looked like Robby Benson. Years later, when I finally get back to Norfolk, after a 6 years on the Left Coast and a tour in Minnesota, I ran across him going into the Exchange that USED to be on NAS Norfolk. Turns out that kid made Warrant. Kind of made me feel good as I was his supervisor. Hindsight being 20/20, there are times I wished I had just stayed in Norfolk.
