Billy, good advice Bro and thanks.

I wonder if amvet remembers Lucifer from mil.com? I doubt it. LMAO..........

amvet, if you do "happen" to get to post on mil.com, you will not post on the PTSD forum. you violated the rules there twice, you are not welcome back to post there.... period. Got it ?

anytime Alpha Bro

Cyber I see you are going to do the digging and not leave well enough alone. This has been a long drawn out finger pointing ordeal. You have no horse in this race, its between a few individuals, I DON'T EVEN GET IN ON IT and I have been following it not only from here but another forum.

Gentlemen we have now graduated past the expression "beating a dead horse," to "backing over it's head w/ a deuce and a half mulitple times." Seriously its gone on long enough. If everybody and their mother doesn't get your point then they obviously have ADD. Now I am not sticking up for Amvet, and I respect and appreciate the passion you show for integrity. But there comes a time when ya just gotta get past it. . .and I would reccomend just ignoring her and not responding to her posts. I am a 21 year old college student, and I am sure most of you are 40s and 50s. Yet I have heard some relatively grotesque statements being thrown around that I would expect to come from someone my age; and that is just immature coming from a bunch of adults. . .over quite frankly a computer which is usually a hobby dominated by 13 year olds on cyber forums. There is a lot of traffic around this forum and try to think of all the people that read these posts to get an idea of the military, and its past, present, and future. College students doing research for papers, 17 yr olds thinking about joining the proffesion of arms, moms w/ little else to do. . .you name it. But some of the things that are being said on hear do not present a postitive image to the military, or your personal histories; just as much as not having integrity does in some instances. If you haven't noticed lately a lot of the old posters with positive, interesting, and credible histories have hunkered down and not posted lately. Well I along w/ the other oldtimes at the place want them back.

Once again. . .I am not sticking up for any one person in particular, and I respect where you are coming from. Your point has been made multiple times, and that is all that can be done for now until the people that run this thing deem otherwise. Thanks. JOE

I am not getting past there being a Poser hanging around, continually misrepresenting themself or their status where this all began.
The fact is the Posers do more damage to the Image of the Military than any harsh words they receive from myself or anyone else.
They disrespect the Service of those who have BTDT, create an image of the Military that is not true, and if allowed to go about their fantasy they will continue to do so.
As a Veteran I will not tolerate this behavior in anyone period. They disgrace the Service and real BTDTs. It is my responsibility as a Veteran to shine the light of truth on these cretins.
It is worse to remain silent about this type of thing, than to allow a false image to be presented. Honor Thieves are just that! Thieves!

Alright. So we keep going in circles.

And I disagree b/c people can detect posers in any place in life, and they are always immediately disregarded as exactly that "a poser." They bear no impact on an organization b/c they have nothing to offer it.

Everybody has seen the arguements so there is no point in continuing w/ it. I see your point though, and will continue to support your integrity.

So we're just going to run what could be a good forum into the ground. It's all about amvet now. Christ, even the word association thread has been about friggin' amvet! amvet, amvet, amvet! She's even e-mailing me about private topics.

I am out of this issue effective now. I am not going to let petty issues cost me every thing I have worked for throughout my entire life. My job is to represent veterans not play games on forums. I do not have the time to read all posts made on every subject. Thus, I do miss many issues.
I work from about 330 in the mornings until after 400 in the afternoon, representing veterans. This issue has cured me of trying to help on the internet.

DAVE B:

I feel that would be a shame to drop all your ideas of offering pro advice and support over the Internet.

I feel also that this particular case has stirred up many emotions, and mainly bad ones. People’s feelings, trust etc has been damaged, and that is blatantly obvious as you can see by the response from many people over many sites and forums. I feel that many lessons have been learnt, and we are all still in the process of learning and adjusting.

I feel also that if you make a decision based on this particular issue, to suspend or discontinue your help and advice via the Internet, the people that will loose out most of all, are the people that you could potentially help, not only in the present time, but also in the future.

However I do feel that great care should be taken when dealing with the very sensitive and private issues that many ex vets, and some still serving members have, especially when they are open to the public, as you must be aware all counseling should be held in a “safe zone”.

I wish you the very best of luck, and wish that your valued support continues, without having been negatively influenced by events that have unfolded on various forums.

Respect & regards

Mike D

She won't stop posting, Mike. She's all over these boards, posting in threads that have nothing to do with her. And nobody wants to post after her. Hell, she's even e-mailing me with rambling explanations of this and that, and I barely know her!

A bit of advice to all concerned here:

Anonymous chat boards are not the place to lay one's heart and soul. That's why we have Vet Centers and professionals in the field all around the country.

I suppose with Oprah and Dr. Phil people think they can be helped in public but I think that is a very bad idea from the client and the provider's point of view.

So, if someone has pressing PTSD or other issues, they should NOT have the expectation that they are going to be essentially helped on the Internet, and those trying to help should try to convince the person in pain to seek actual assistance.

Then we can move on to other more helpful topics, such as the types of assistance, where to go, some readings or other experiences.

Part of getting over PTSD is getting one's life back together as best one can and sitting in front of a computer by oneself ain't necessarily the way for that to happen.
