Enjoy this one......
A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000. B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000. C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171. Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health Human services and is a conservative number. Now think about this: Guns: A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. Yes, that is 80 million. B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500. C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.0000188. Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners. Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do." FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR. Lets Bring 'em home soon |

Me and my dad are both gun owners and haven't shot it in at least 6 years, doctors work and do surgeries on people EVERY DAY!! I would think the doctors would get screwed with those statistics...

This reminds me of the bumper sticker that says "Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my gun."

a few problems with this ..
like .. most people don't have a doctor .. most of the poor .. underemployed .. and a doctor .. like one in a large city emergency department .. might trat 20 or 30 a day .. they may be given incomplete and/or erroneous .. and flat out lies in medical history .. like a guy coimes in with an infected leg .. asked: How long have you had this? oh, couple of days .. well, it's gas gangrene and it's up to his knee .. yeah right .. and an intern or resident might work a 36 hour trick ... and not all medical malpractice is caused by docs .. it is also caused by nurses .. lab techs .. pharmacy techs .. medical techs ... pharmacies .. like we recently had a couplke of hlospital mislabeled blood types .. another misread lab tests fr AIDS/HIV/HEP .. anbd another pharmacy contaminated some syringes with HEP c ...and here's the other side of the coin ..if doctors are killing off all these people (700,000) .. then why are conservatives so hot to cut off malpractice claims .. of course I am in full agreement that no one should be allowed to file a malpractice suit, unless it involves me or someone close to me ..LOL ... |

I used this in an email debate with someone from Doctors Against Handgun Violence. As hard as he tried he couldn't refute the numbers. He always came back with the same old rhetoric. It was actually kind of pathetic.
