Considering that he was born in 1885, he would probably just drool.

Well, one thing for sure,he'd be pissed about the new cammie uniforms.
This from a man that expected his soldiers to fight with a tie on!?! I believe he also designed a tankers uniform that was rejected by the Army. Which is why I don't care....I think he was a nutjob. Maybe a brilliant tactician, but about as sane as Napoleon...the real one. |

Say what you will about General Patton, he knew how to fight when it counted.

I'm not sure he'd be on board with the prosecution of the present war. However, I suppose politics have always come into play in wartime and I think he was damn pissed when he had to fall back in 1945 so the Russkies could enter Berlin first. Pls correct my history if I'm ODF.

And don't forget,he wanted to rearm the Wehrmacht, turn them around and kick some Russian ass back to the Motherland.

The good general would be very much disappointed by the American public lack of support to the war on terror. Less than 2,000 Americans died during the attack in Pearl Harbour yet the US at that time mobilize almost 16 million troops. More tha 400,000 Americans sacrifice their lives to win against Japan. Todays terrorist killed more tha 3,000 Americans at the World Trade Center yet sad to say today, this new American generation shamefully very apathetic in winning this war on terror!

Americans today could probably not stomach a declaration of war and the attendant inconveniences. Try gas rationing for a start.

watchman: Remember that we used the draft to get people to fight in WW2 where 67% of infantry soldiers were draftees. It was 33% in Vietnam and is 0% today.

It should never matter how one general feels or what he thinks, the civilian leadership that is elected by the people should never be compromised or we will cease to be the united states. I think we should take a lesson from isreal on the war on terror, they know how to get the job done. The US military talks hard and yet spends years in the desert kicking in individual doors instead of taking care of buisness and comming home to take care of your family.
I think the draft is a great idea, the military likes to talk hard about how your not getting out boy wait until the officers have to babysit a bunch of draftees from generation X. |

Don't forget Lebanon which is the ME equivilant of Afghanistan right now Ltr that follows found on Grits-- John Wear is dead on in his assessment of the Israeli campaign against Hezbollah "Party of Iran" terrorists in Lebanon. Apologies Mr. Wear if I'm over reaching with regard to your comment. In the latest installment of the American Courage news letter of August three. "If the Arabs put down their weapons today there will be no more blood shed in the middle east. If the Jews put down their weapons today, there will be no more Israel today". Hezbollah, the same group which gets air time on National Public Radio and who's terrorists are often referred to as "activists" are the same who murdered 242 Marines in the Beirut bombing, hung Lt Col. Rich Higgens, and bombed the Kobar Towers. Lebanon is complicit and a legitimate target because it has allowed for a situation to arise where Hezbollah terrorists have 1/3 representation in the parliament and 2 members in the Cabinet. It is intolerable to have a country with literally two governments and armed forces/militias that don't recognize your right to exist, which acts on those principles right on your border. If Israel was bent on the destruction of Lebanon the Air Force would have bombed the electro generation plants and water treatment facilities in the first days of the war. If the Lebanese want to point the finger at some one with regard to the mess in their country they only need to go as far as looking into a mirror.
