Let's kick this off with a really crappy one. Best line " Demon, you shouldn't be out of your room...". Right after that you will find yourself going mach 1 through a cornfield. Don't forget to wear your Depends.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTI6S3S6oz0 This next one was so scary that Purina pet food pulled the plug on financial backing. The dog teamed up with Peta and now has filed a 200,000 dollar lawnsuit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...fumQ&feature=related This message has been edited. Last edited by: TYPHOON44, |

Sorry,Typhoon.
I wasn't impressed. Nothing beats the original "The Exorcist",IMHO. Scared the be-jeebers outta me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ewu1laA2nmI "The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain people,it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government, lest it come to dominate our lives and interests"~ Patrick Henry |

Of course one can never deny the maserpiece that is Rosemary's baby. I have a few more, but my soldier needs the comp for a moment. |

Not much of a fan of the trend to 'splatter and gore' type films.. the subtle shows where the mere suggestion through light/shadow and such makes the hair stand on end is more my fave..
I count an oldy tymey one with George C.Scott and his missus, Claire Bloom.. shot in Vancouver many moons ago.. The Changling - one hell of a ghost story..scariest scene is a kid's rubber ball bouncing down the stairs.. had the Good Padre cowering under the seat with the spilled cola and chewed gum in the multiplex...still can't watch it on DVD right through, poor dear.. Up there in the top ten, as well, is the original Wickerman with Edward Woodward of Equalizer fame.. right creepy..Nic Cage ruined it in the remake.. Hollywood always has to ruin a good thing with 'sequels' and remakes - sorry - re-imaginings - of classics.. What was wrong with Night of the Living Dead, or Psycho, or Texas Chainsaw Massacre, that they had to re-do them? for really scary movies, though, you can't beat Russ Meyer!.. huge breasted ugly women trying to mate with average guys in crummy garages and barns and rickety farm houses.. gave me the shakes worse than Mars Needs Women! There I was , at the head of the old 68th... |

Now this is scary..
just read that the Coen Brothers are going to re=make True Grit!! FFS!! Jeff Bridges [ love him as Big Lebowski and hear he's doing a 'sequel' to Tron right now ] is a great actor but trying to outdo the Duke in the title role?.. makes me squirm.. Matt Damon is to play the Glen Campbell part and they've tacked Josh Brolin for the villain..[ hey, after playing Dubya, how hard can it be to play a black-hatted baddie? ] There I was , at the head of the old 68th... |

Rocketeer, I am sure you can appreciate the classic Dracula, and the wonderful job they did on Edgar Allen Poe's "The pit and the pendulum", correct? As far as these re-makes are concerned I must say that if it is only done with love do I find it alright. By "done with love" I do mean those WELL done. I take the example of Texas Chainsaw Massacre as a well done re-make. I thought they chose a rather wonderful sheriff to play that part.

Rocketeer
I actually own both movies you mentioned. The Changling is on my top list. Nothing can best a horror flick that uses our own imaginations to scare ourselves. The Blair Witch was like that too. |

Rob Zombie spends too much time trying to recapture the original Texas Chainsaw in all of his movies. House of 1000 Corpses is a prime example of Horror abuse. They couldn't just kill the unsuspecting dopes who were tricked into that nutball house, they actually made a " fishboy " out of one of them ( I guess somebody was a former taxidermist in that house ). And let's not forget the underground laire complete with the insane leader of the whole bunch. |

STICK:
Pelosi might chase the pre-schoolers off the porch, but for sheer horror [ enough to make the teenage egg throwing graffiti-spraying types quake] nothing matches Janet Reno! The ultimate Man/Woman/Cyborg - scarier than Arnold in the Terminator...makes even Hillary look ...well, maybe not... dammit!.. now I've done it.. .excuse me, but I got to go oogle Megan Fox piccies on the internet to get the image of Janet out of my head.. There I was , at the head of the old 68th... |

Ah ha ha ha ha! Leave it to Stick to find political humor in a Halloween thread! Very funny stuff, man!
Typhoon, Rob is the man, and always be the man in my eyes. Been a fan of his work for a long time now. Back in middle school I had a butterfly frame I tried to hide his pic in. I just need to work up the desire to support his re-make of Halloween. Not a fan of re-makes really, but for Rob I should give him a shot. I think Devil's rejects was his best so far. |

Elizabeth -
The Devils rejects was just more of the same to me. Creepy sunburned people in old sunburned motels and the constant overuse of grain and burn filters. Here is a little gem that actually is a good idea. The actors could have been better, but the idea carried them through : http://www.reekermovie.com/ p.s. ever notice that hotel/motel they film these movies in? It's been used in about 15 recent horror movies within the last 4 years. |
