More than 100 members of the U.S. House of Representatives have co-sponsored a bill that would end health insurance discrimination against motorcyclists and others who participate in legal recreational activities or use their motorcycles for transportation.

"The AMA is calling on motorcyclists and others who face health insurance discrimination to urge their U.S. Representatives to support H.R. 1076, known as the HIPAA Recreational Injury Technical Correction Act," said Moreland. "Time is short. The bill has broad bi-partisan support but we need 218 votes for passage. If we don’t act by April, we will likely miss our chance for legislative action in 2008."

What discrimination – it is dangerous and injuries are plentiful. As for those who do not wear the proper protective gear or ride like idiots (as many do) – the premiums should be higher.

Why not leave it to the states.

Sorry but I agree with Harry on this. You want to act like an idiot about your own safety then you pay for what you do in life. By the way I do own and ride a motorcycle and I do pay attension to my own safety

Ditto....did ya notice this also calls out in addition to motorcycling, snowmobiling, skiing, horseback riding, and all-terrain vehicle riding?

Now that will get some attention if this passes! Gonna be some pissed of voters if this one slides past them and into law.

Gunny this subject is just like anything else thaat has inherent risks involved. You want to play then you take the risks involved. just my .02 and I hope it never sees the light of day. Sorry not meant to hurt feelings just this is a bad idea.

None on my end. Wanna play...expect to pay, one way or the other. Still don't think its right to deny medical insurance coverage for those that need it as a result of an ACCIDENT.
