Here is a story, we drove up to Albuquerque NM this week for the second week of the Balloon Fiesta which is a whole lot better than going to Houston ( which I ditched out on ). We are doing our thing and what not when I bump in to an old friend who looked as if she got hit with a 20 pound burlap bag of old spuds. One thing leads to another when starts telling me about some crazed spider that attacked her at a Holiday Inn Express! I thought she was joking at first and she lifted up her arm where the little SOB bit her! POW! Her arm looked as if it slept on an overheated radiator! She spent 6 weeks in a Hospital with all sorts of crazy crap going on! And it's still going on too!

I looked up the little bastard and then hit the sack...at the HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS we are staying at. A bag of those things are WMD's, no joke. I hate spiders.

TYPHOON my nephew who lived in Farmington died after being bitten by a Brown Recluse while in bed he was treated for about a year before he died.He was bitten on his back just above the beltline by the time he passed away he had a hole in his back about 3" in dia.

My youngest was bit, but we recognized it was serious right away and got him on antibiotics and other medications. He still lost about an inch square chunk out of his leg just below the knee.

Nasty bastards.

Good thing you recognized it fast, my friend just happened to have a friend ( who is a nurse of all things! ) who came along on the trip and put the thing in a plastic bag. Talk about luck! Within hours her arm was an inch bigger with a sting of terror pumping through it every 15 minutes. I couldn't believe it when she showed us her inside arm, looked like a burn victim. Evil bug.

I remember a good teacher of mine was bit by a spider. I think it was a brown recluse, and even my dark self was angry at the bugger! She lived, but I would have been very sad to loose her. She was one of the few teachers that actually disciplined kids that were assholes to me.

I am glad your friend is o.k, Typhoon. Let's hope that never happens again.

Sully, I am sorry to hear of your loss. I am more sorry that is was such a long agonizing death for your nephew. It would crush me if I lost my lil nephew Kitt.
