DALLAS - A Marine Corps veteran whose flag was among two burned Monday in a North Dallas neighborhood got a replacement flag Wednesday.
After seeing the story on News 8 Tuesday night, a veteran of the Iraq war gave him one that came a long way to its new home. Ed Jordan and Patrick Best served their country five decades apart and never met before Wednesday, but a flag brought them together. “It needed a home and he had a home that needed a flag, so it was just very simple to connect the two together," Best said. Best served in the Army for two tours in Iraq. He recently finished the second in February before he left active duty. When Best came home, he brought an American flag that flew over his base near Mosul. After he saw what happened to Jordan's flag, Best knew where it should go. “Something special I was looking to give to somebody who needed it, somebody who was worthy of it and obviously a veteran who was in need of a flag," he said. Someone burned Jordan's flag and a neighbor's down the street. The ex-Marine vowed to get a replacement, but didn't expect such a special one. “It has that much more meaning to know that somebody you've been praying for, this flag was flying over them," Jordan said. Best has a new assignment now back home in Coppell, being the civilian dad to the family that missed him during his service. Jordan has a new job too, finding a bigger pole for his new flag. As they parted, Jordan said he’s grateful for the gift. “Thanks again, Pat," he said. "I really appreciate it. God bless you.” Count it the greatest sin to prefer life to honor, and for the sake of living to lose what makes it worth living. -junival c.50-c.130 |

Complete idiots on the loose. They sneak around at night and burn down the reason they get to burn a flag down. Never during the day eh?

Can't you get arrested for flag-burning? Gotta admit it takes balls to walk upto a veteran's home and burn his flag..

It doesn't take balls to burn your nations flag.
It takes balls to enlist in the military and DEFEND your nations flag. THANK YOU,VETERANS. "The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain people,it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government, lest it come to dominate our lives and interests"~ Patrick Henry |

This is a touching story. Glad he got a new flag, and that it has much more special meaning to it.
I propose a new law; Burn/dececrate an American flag and get deported for life back to your ancestor’s home. For example if I burn or desecrate an American flag I would get deported for life back to either Spain or Sweden. To further the punishment the offenders are NEVER allowed back into America again for any reason. No coming back for a wedding or funeral. Even American air space/waters is illegal to be in. I believe that burning our nation’s flag is one of the biggest slaps in the face of America. I mean crap; I nearly dropped an American flag on the floor at work and had myself a heart attack! I gave it a big hug and held on to it tighter till I was ready to put it in it's home. Many of you say "god bless America", but as a Satanist I say "Satan, Belial, Leviathan, and Kali bless America!" *climbs down from her soapbox* |
