Amvet,dont forget to "burp"those crawdaddys first.YUM! and I love clams too,especially raw.

Billy, had my share of catfish, but havent caught a crappie yet.been all largemouth bass. biggest one was just under 9 pounds from the shoreline at my friends lake. she was delish! LOL

keep 'em comin folks!

of COURSE I burp em. Wink

and the finest catfish I ever had was from this restaurant in Georgia that had the catfish 'farm' right out back, and would kill it fresh daily..mmmmmm..delic, and the best part was I wasn't the one who had to clean and cook it..never had fish that fresh I didn't have to help prepare before..could just sit and relax and eat it..

anyone ever been to a restaurant like that, or one that brags of getting their fish fresh everyday? you can tell the difference when they say it whether or not they mean it..there is always a difference in taste between fresh and fish that has been frozen, no matter how much some try to say there isn't.

That sounds like me. Big Grin Trout is okay, and I will eat Salmon, but just don't care for it that much..

to me if it's not out of a shell and it's going to be fish my favorites are catfish and then orange roughy.

Billy at present I am learning Flyfishing I have about 10 diffrent bait cating med.,light but I prefer an old Shakespear Ugly Stick 6 or 8 lb. fire line. Most fun I ever had was Fishing Skagit River North of Whidbey Island for King Salmon with a light Salt water rod and Pen 30 with a bell when those Kings come in from the sea they will hit anything that moves and some of those fish weigh 30 and 40 lbs.you need 20 or 30 lb. test line they will run out 100 yrd of line before you can slow them down usualy takes about 11/2 hrs to bring one in you fish with a Silver Spinner on top with a anchor on the bottom.I used some kind of Plug in the middle real bright Flou.

have an old surf rod that used to be my dads.used to go to a motel in naples, fla. always surf fished with it. caught a 4 foot nurse shark once.its about 7 feet in length,a 550 penn reel with 15 lb. line and 40 lb. leader.
my wife has a pennrod.the reel is penn. has 8 lb. test with a 10 lb. leader. like to use 1/4 oz.sinker at channels with current. but usually freeline if using live bait.
mine is a shimano quick trigger rod and reel with 8 lb. test and 10 lb. leader. same setup as the mrs. all with various brands of line.
also have 3 pyramid style crab traps. love them blue claws!
have so much tackle,I dont use half of it~

Sully et all, I hear that they have those peacock bass and tilapia in Fla., a neighbor says that snook fight pretty hard too. As a fly fisherman, I've always wanted to fish the flats for Bonefish. That would be a real challenge. If you want Walleye, go to Lake Erie or Saginaw Bay. They don't fight hard at all, but are fine in the skillet. Lake St. Clair has enormous Muskie and lots of them, hard to catch but worth it for the fight. Pike are everywhere, any cold water lake has them. I caught a 40" and a 43" for wall hangers. What kind of fishin do you do in N.M., are there trout in the Mts?

_Sparky_ I saw your location what part of Mo. are you at I was out there a couple of yrs.caught some nice Smallmouth ,Crappies,30 lbs Flathead Cats but no Largemouth they said to go over to Lake Ozark never made it.

I'm near Ellington in SE Missouri. My house is about 1 mile north of Clearwater Lake (which is supposed to have some good-sized large mouth in it). I haven't been fishing here yet (just moved 4 months ago)except in the pond behind my house(where I caught a bunch of stumpknockers, bluegills, or whatever you want to call those panfish, hehe).

I LOVED Florida fishing, you could catch trophy-size bass and then later in the day hook up some redfish, speckled trout, snapper, or even shark!

Billy, What do you use for Bait for cats? When I was a boy, always used nightcrawlers or chicken livers, sometimes cut bait at night, the bloodier the better. Used to fish Laurel Lake and use big suckers for big flatheads. Dale Hollow for stripers and smallies.

Use alot of chicken liver and cut shad and the good ole crawlers also. For Blues I use bluegills and shad when i can find the shad to catch'em.

At upperdouglas lake on Knox I use a stink bait called Bee-Jay the wife hates it. Will have to find the pic of my son when he was around 10 and caught a 16lb blue at Nolin. Do almost all my catfishing at talyorsville and of course you can't beat the crappie at Ky Lake

yes Sully, the speckled trout here are another delicacy.fun to catch too.

Starlin, the bonefishing is a challenge. our flats are very shallow. just step out of the boat and walk around casting. when is sunny out,you can spot them. not edible though.and the snook? man, nothing like hookin one of those beauties and watch it fly out of the water.good fight, just be patient.

O'sea...sounds like the snook are like steelhead, they like to tailwalk and jump, but if you try to horse them in, all you get is breakoffs. Sully, sounds like my family, at the last reunion we had 568 people. And that's about a quarter of them.
