All these adjustments to make up for or to allow respite to those stupid enough to obtain all those zero interst home loans should have never occurred. Why should the Fed bail them out? All those risky loans should have never been made in the first place.

We are reaping what we sow, George W has racked up more debt than all the presidents before him combined!! Not to mention the united states is slowly becomming service oriented as less and less things are actually produced here when you have more people working in service oriented jobs with lower education your GDP goes down. There are to many barriers to higher education, not to mention we took a shot in the foot when we went off the gold standard. So while the housing market affects things in the short term there are lots of things that effect our currant state over the last 50-60 years. Failure to see how decisions made in the past affect our future is foolish, and when you copy and paste the housing market excuse out of a trendy market report like gunny has done you just show your ignorance BTW housing costs are way over inflated in some areas right now but the money we are using is counterfit anyways.

Does this mean that I should till under my hay field? Agriculture is important to the nation and should always remain so.

If you ride 54 you can quickly see where Americas food is coming from. If you go further north to Iowa you'll hit that massive crop of corn. A whole bunch of cows are needed for that corn, so that hay will will make you rich. The one bad thing I've noticed is farmers are selling some great top soil for a future suburb. HGTV is moving in and kicking out the backbone of America.

I didn't think budget surplus's were POSSIBLE in government) So Also how ironic that our economy seems to have gone down the drain after many years of conservative financial leaders (Nixon, Ford, reagan and the two bushes) after a period presided over by democrats which seems to be unprecedented economic prosperity. (FDR, Truman, Ike (who was a fairly moderate and progressive republican so I'll count him) JFK and LBJ) Says something doesn't it. And carter, well, frankly I'm not even gonna touch him.
