haha, you are funny.
No, I did not give them to him, it showed up on me not to long after the last time I saw him. I honestly don't care if he gave it to me, to be honest it has not affected my life at all, the only thing that was bothering me was that I did not know where it came from and was not sure telling him about my findings was the right thing to do while he was in Iraq. Of course I support him! I am very proud of him! Herpes and all! He's a good man and I think might of been scared to tell me he had it because I was once a person who did not understand what exactly it was and I was always crabbing about certain things. One of the last things I said to him before he left was you better not bring me home no diseases so with that attitude who would want to come clean about it. We are both fine, niether one of us plans on being with anyone else so we will deal with it when he comes home. I just want him home safe so we can resume our lives together as planned. I defnitely urge people to educate themselves more, the more I read about it the better I felt about having it. I really could care less to be honest with you. There are a lot worse things that can happen to people then this. And being that 1 in 4 people have it, it's a very common thing. oh well, life goes on.....know what I mean! ~This is a world we all must share, it's not enough just to stand and stare~ |

QUOTE] I forgot to comment on this, what's funny that i don't know what? 1 in 4 people have it and 90% of them don't know they have it because symptoms can be so mild that they go un-noticed. Some people shrug sypmtoms off that they think are jock itch, shaving bumps or just a lousy pimple. Have you ever looked down and said "what the hell is that" well, could be herpes, you never know it's the total reality of this virus. That's the main reason it is so widely spread, because people don't know they have it.....but let's just say me and my SO don't work out, you bet your butt I would tell any new people I was about to become intimate with. No doubt at all.... ~This is a world we all must share, it's not enough just to stand and stare~ |

1 in 4?? Holy macaroni! Thats gotta be like 3 maybe 4 thousand people!
I dont imagine its something that makes your day but ya, things could be alot worse. Especially If you and your boyfriend are going to stay together and remain monogomous. |

haha that's comedy, but you shouldn't say unfortunately? Like you are upset you have one? and yes 1 in 4 of the american population and that is way more then 3-4 thousand people guy think about it, more like millions of americans if your out with you and 3 other friends chances are one of them has herpes, you just may not know it cause i'm sure they are not dying to tell you. and that's genitally, 80% of the population as a whole has it orally, meaning they get cold sores on their mouths whether it was when they were a kid and it doesnt happen anymore or they may still get them. I got cold sores on my mouth when i was a toddler most people I know did. If you think about it if you've had more then 4 partners in your life you have definitely been exposed to it whether you contracted it or not cause despite what people think you can have a healthy normal sex life and never pass it to your partner. It is avoidable. but all those statistics are scary aren't they!? Look it up, do some research i'll even give you websites to show you I am not blowing smoke up your a$$. it's a very real part of our society, just not many people think it's so common. ~This is a world we all must share, it's not enough just to stand and stare~ |

You know, it's odd for me to read this.... I don't have genital herpes, but I feel for you. What I do have to deal with is shingles. It's in the same family. The difference being that it is an external skin virus that came from having the chicken pox. Also, it rarely shows up and even then it is a quarter size circle just above my knee.
Where I feel for you is that I was clueless and almost freaked out when the doctor told me and prescribed me Valtrex to treat it! I felt ashamed....stupidly, but I did. I still get embarassed to explain it to people. For crying out loud, it came from the chicken pox. The reason it is in the herpes family is that it is a virus that keeps coming back. It can be painful internally. Knowing the similarity and the irritation of having a quarter sized rash by my knee, I can't imagine it being anywhere else on my body. Stay strong and keep your head high. Things happen to all of us, even the best of us. So, people that do point fingers should really turn their fingers inward and address their own issues. |
