Hey all, I'm actually a military dependent (or was until I reached that fun age where they take away your ID card), so I was raised around primarily Navy and Marines most of my life, dealt with friends and family being involved or directly going to areas of conflict... As a result, some of my writing has leaned that direction.
Last week, the first issue (0) of my comic, Faction, was released and is up for sale (more to follow). I thought I'd share some of the story with you guys to see what you think. If you'd like to check it out, great! If not, just consider it a shout out to all of the military out there past and present who live and who we've lost and those who left a little behind, emotionally or physically. God bless! FACTION The year is 2025 and the worlds’ governments are focused on eradicating the escalating terrorist threat in the Middle East secretly supported by the demonic Den Malignity. This effort has left Master Sergeant Acker Kinney, a Special Ops Medic, scarred and short an arm, forever changed. When Acker is attacked by a demonic minion while recovering from his wounds in a military hospital, he is saved by Knights from the Society of the Enlightened. Soon he will be one of them; men and women blessed by God with countless lifetimes of knowledge and rediscovered powers. The Society and the Den Malignity, enemies in an eternal struggle, must react when other factions, long thought banished or destroyed, rise to reclaim what was theirs. The Society and its knights must determine in this changed landscape who their allies and enemies are as factions vie for a stake in the world’s destiny. The schemes of gods, the desires of demons, the powers of nature, myth, and the supernatural – all set forth to control a world the Society has sworn to protect. This is Faction. Interesting..
if you want to find an 'adult' market.. I'd suggest calling it a 'graphic novel' and not a comic, these days.. you the artist? While not as 'polished' as Don Lomax's 60's work [ Vietnam Journal ] is does remind me of the sketch work of Joe Orlando and Gene Colon from EC's Blazing Combat series. You seen the works of Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows in 303? or Dan Jurgens' Combat Zone from Marvel Comics a few years back? I'll try not to date myself too much by not mentioning Bill Everett's work for Atlas Comics; Navy Tales [ 1957-58 ].. $ 3.50 for a comic?? boy times have changed.. I used to be able to get one for the price of 6 pop bottle returns and have two cents left over for some bubble gum DAMN!! I'm old!! good luck with the project... Self marketing or do you have a distributor/publisher like Image? The Lesbians living next door gave me a Rolex. I think they misunderstood when I said " I wanna watch. " |

Got to agree with you on comic book pricing... printing and distribution has gotten VERY expensive! As for how it's coming out, I'm almost self publishing it, I'm working with a small press called dimestoreproductions.com to get it out there in the world. thanks all! |
