This is a pic I stumbled onto just now, and thought I'd share it. My whole body shivered by the thought of waking up with one of these ugly bastards in my bed.

A friend of mine just got back from the sandbox, he sais that the snakes over there find them tasty.

yup, and the fuggers can go seriously fast, too~! Their bite doesn't kill, but will hurt, but thank God I never found that out personally, and they aren't technically in the arachnic family. Heard a song about them somewhere on the net, and if I find it again, will post it here.

My boy told me that they were on patrol and parked their hummers somewhere out in the boonies and a couple of the big bastards were out crawling around and his Lt. almost went goofy with panic, apparently he (Lt.) is phobic about them. My boy caught one and tied a string around the middle and keeps it as a pet. Calls it poochy, from something on the Simpsons.

As usual, Snopes has something to say about this image, which looks to be real... however, the camera angle makes that bug look bigger than it really is.
When I deployed to Sinai, I heard all the same stories. Never did see a giant super fast flesh eating Camel Spider. Fun story to tell newbies though. "Don't Tread On Me" |

They're technically not spiders. Mean looking buggers though.

No, they are not spiders, but something like a vinigaroon, like they have in Ariz. or N.M. I don't think they bite, my boy says that the size is what scares people.
