Mel was drunk when he said the stuff, and has since issued a very strong apology. Does it look bad overall? Yes, but many actors and famous people have done worse than get drunk and spew off a few words, and still not been the worse for it in Hollywood.

To me, Mel's the MAN! From the Road Warrior to Lethal Weapon to Braveheart to The Patriot to the Passion of the Christ, Mel has been truly amazing. I'm looking forward to his next movie Apocalypto just because of Mel's track record!

given the hoohaw over his father's remarks when Passion of the Christ came out and Mel's attempts to ' deflect' the negative image' that presented on his way to amassing a cool half a billion bucks on the film..one could suggest that the sins of the father have visited the son.. or once a bigot always a bigot..

Still, Mel works with hundreds of Jews who are rife in the entertainment industry/Hollywood so it behooves him to get his PR staff spin doctoring as fast as they can while he hides out at the Betty Ford Luxury Condo Estate to deal with one of his addictions...

Interesting that
a] he's going to have a hard sell getting bums in seats for his next flick, Apocolypto filmed in Mayan with subtitles [ 'mericans hate foreign films and always got to redo them in real English for the domestic market LOL ]so this uncharacteristic outburst [ to quote his ' spokesperson '] doesn't help the box office build up.

b] Waltdisneycorp had quietly dropped plans to help Mel put together a multi-part mini-series on the Holocaust [ which was part of his last apology for his dad's unkind words when Passion came out ]-like they were even going to bother with it, in the first place, the programme being a phony effort to placate the sensitive and Mel may have to haul that idea out of mothballs and finance it himself just to ' save face ' and smooth over ruffled feathers..

What bothers me is that' someone' felt it was allright and legal and okeydokey to ' release/leak ' the official transcript of the Police report to the ' public ' -whatever happened to legal rights, etc..?? [ seems that the arresting officer had the good sense to record the arrest and subsequent rant and that, at the station, they videotaped the follow-up exchange - this standard procedure now to cover the cops asses in case of lawsuits??

I figure this will cost him about a month of grovelling and a 2-4% box office drop come Dec. when the " End of the world " native movie comes out [ for every shocked Jew and others who stay away, the White Supremacists will fill the seats and buy the popcorn -hehehehe ]
